This is my cousins 1970 Monte Carlo. It has the 300 HP 350 ci engine. It also has the th-350 transmission with 2.73 gears. For being 34 years old, this car is in excellent condition. The exterior only needs some minor work - the paint is cracking in some places, but after I buffed the paint, it looked much better and is quite good for being the original paint. There are also a few small dents on the passengers front fender and quarter panel as well as some small scratches that went to the primer in some spots.
The interior is absolutely perfect (for being old) except that some interior lights dont work. It has the bench seat in cloth with no tears in it and it is very comfortable. The interior is also a dark green like the exterior. Part of the wood grain dash by the instrument panel is loose, but it only needs two screws and it will be perfect. The engine has some grime on it, but everything is in working order. The air conditioning only needs to be recharged and it will blow ice cold air.
I have tried to see if my cousin would be willing to sell it, but she still doesnt want to give it up. I am pretty sure I will eventually get it, but I hope it is soon so I can get it in a garage and take care of it. Once I do get it, I plan to fix up the engine and probably do basic mods like intake, cam, carb etc. The interior I plan to keep mostly original and the exterior I would just get a new paint job in the same color. Eventually I might get a new tranny with lower gears, but thats kinda doubtful.
I got to take it for a quick spin on the road on my last visit, and it really impressed me. It may not be the fastest car out there, but she sure does have power and smooth ride - not to mention the auora of driving it! You can definitely feel the torque pushing you back in the seat!
