This page is all about my 1979 Porsche 924. I purchased it in Nov. 2005 and am now finally starting to do some serious work on her. On her first cruise of the year this year a spark wire came undone and ended up flooding the cat with raw fuel melting the catalyst and overheating the head destroying the head and pistons. Oh well she was due for a rebuild anyway. So I'm getting the parts together and am going to get it done hopefully withing the month. I will be posting photos of her restoration as I go . Don't forget to sign the guestbook !!

Well for all the guys on 924.org I posted some photos of the damaged head and pistons. It's hard to see it but you can definitely tell that it's pitted. You can really see where the head melted when you get up close to it. Fred the rebuilder says the bores are good and the block looks good, he 's going to have the bores checked for roundness at the machine shop but he thinks she'll get away with just honing.

An update on the progress. The engine has been dunked and when we shone a light up the cylinder bores one of them was pitted So they will need a rebore. Oh well, looks like some oversize pistons and a bit of added expense but that's the name of the game I guess. The grank will need to be ground and balanced and new main bearings as well, but they're pretty cheap. And the saga continues..........
