Well, in addition to my 2000 Grand Prix, here is our 1984 Monte Carlo SS. My dad bought this back in March of 2004. Kind of a cool story behind it. A kid in his early 20's bought it brand new in 1984 from Bocker Chevrolet in Freeport, IL. Unfortunately, he only kept it for a few months before selling it. The second owner was a little nicer to this SS. He owned it for the next 20 years, his wife being the primary driver. Unfortunately in 1997, his wife passed away of cancer and the car just sat in his garage. 1997 was the last year the car was registered. Every once in a while he would take the plates off of his Corvette and put them on the SS, and drive it around the neighborhood to keep it from completely rotting out. Well, in late 2003 he put the car up for sale and listed it at $6,000 obo. We called and tried to negotiate a tad, just one of those things you try to do when used car shopping haha. He said no...around $6k was what he wanted. So we declined and said well thanks anyway, and to keep us in mind if you decide to go lower. Well, almost 5 months had passed and the guy calls saying that he would let it go to us for $4500. So my dad jumped on it right away. Brought it home during my Spring Break when I was a Senior in high school. The car supposedly has only seen 1 winter, way back in 1984. Hasn't been driven in it since. No rain it's entire life.

Just a little update.  Not a damn thing's changed to the car since I last updated the page.  She saw little light this summer unfortunatly, everybody was too busy!  She got put away back on August 23rd.  Until that day, the last time she saw the road was the last week of July, when I decided to take it for a cruise because it was sitting for a while THEN.  Needless to say it saw a lot of garage this summer.

The car needed some work since it had sat for so long. We replaced:

-rebuilt Rochester Quadrajet

-New cap, rotor, plugs, and wires

-new Monroe shocks

-BFG Radial T/A's

-new air cleaner

-new battery and battery tray

-new radiator

-new tie rod ends

-new front brakes

-and a few misc. interior pieces.

Since then, we've cleaned it up a lot, and just had fun cruising around in it! It gets so many looks from people, thumbs up and shouts of "nice car!" We brought it home with just over 90k on it. And as of today the car's only got just over 92k. So, obviously we haven't put a lot on it in the last 4 years.

Check out Page 2 for a little more information and pictures!

Nice looking SS. Paint and exterior look awesome, too bad about the driver's seat, though as you probably already know, you can get exact relpica upholstry kits from several sources including Original Parts Group. Your car is identical to the '84 SS my father bought new in late '83 and owned until he traded it for a Buick T Regal, always loved the '84, it was a well thought out and put together car. Figured it would be the '57 chevy of its era, if you know what I mean. Take care of it... and thanks for the nice comments on my '78. By the way, I hope you know that person that made the previous comment, that wasn't too cool.
