Thanks for viewing my page, from 1 car lover to another... Here's an earlier pic of my 2002 Corolla
I didn't want to break my bank by supercharging, so I decided to go NA. I bought and installed my parts myself also.
I have (OBX)exhaust headers, a custom air intake that pulls air from the front, a piggyback fuel programmer, upgraded spark plugs and wires, a throttle body spacer, and underdrive pulleys. Cams and gears have been hard to find, but I'm still working on that.
Those upgrades brought the horsepower to around 185, with close numbers in torque also. Being such a light-weight car, the small numbers are bigger than they seem!
Next I added a straight through 2.5 inch exhaust, with a dual barrel Magnaflow muffler at the end. I noticed an immediate torque increase afterwards. The sound is not loud and 'lawnmower' like, because I kept the resonator on the car. The car sounds deep, almost like the Subaru WRX's with exhaust. Anyone who's heard the Subaru's knows that sound.
With the exhaust, the horsepower is at 195 with 215 torque. A big jump from the factory 124! Torque is where it's at... For the record, the $3,000 TRD supercharger only gives you 42 horses and 35 torque...(166hp) The speedometer doesn't even have enough numbers for the speed anymore. It hits the cheesy 110mph mark, but the car keeps pulling extra, extra hard. Next, I ordered some 1.75 inch lowering springs and stiffer shocks(TEIN). Then I ordered some 16x7 inch wheels, and some Kuhmo tires.
They started out bronze and silver, then I painted them goldish yellow, and ultimately decided on black.
