This is my 1993 Ford Tempo GL 2-Door Coupe that I bought in March 2007. The car had 91,000 miles on it when I bought it, but has now turn closer to 113,000. Under the hood is the 2.3L HSC (High Swirl Combustion) OHV pushrod 8V inline four cylinder unit (2301 cc, or 140.416 ci). Factory specs for the motor were 96 hp @ 4,200 rpm & 126 lb-ft of torque at 2,600 rpm. I've heard that the automatic transmissioned cars of this style were doggy, but I'm not having much of a problem with my Borg Warner MTX-III 5-speed manual. Another advantage there is I can make the most of my 15.9 gallon fuel tank with 24 mpg city & 33 on the highway. Tipping the scales at 2,511 lbs, and with 96 hp, it's power/weight ratio is a moderate 26.156 lbs/hp. My whole vision when I bought the car was to build on it little by little, and I'm finally getting to that aspect. To add a little spice and exclusivity to my car, I've changed the model trim to a certain extent. The 2-Door was available as the base model Tempo, upmarket GL, or top-of-the-line GLS, the sportiest model of the bunch. What I'm aiming for is something even sportier than the GLS, hence the "GLR" designation that I gave my car.

This is the car right after I bought it in March. The first thing I knew I had to do was fix the cookie cutters the car was riding on.

$19.99 was a great price for the five-spoke hubcaps from Wal-Mart, although they are merely a temporary fix. I'm looking for a nice set of similar looking five-spokers, but alloy rims instead of hubcaps, and off of another Ford if I can manage.

This is the car sitting out at the the Tanger Outlet Center (after closing time) in the town of Williamsburg where I live.

This was the result of trying to park in an innocent looking yard that was much wetter and greasier than it looked. The "racing stripe" was courtesy of the `94 Chevy Astro AWD minivan that almost got stuck pulling me out!

This is one of the next things I put on the car. They are a set of 60 watt driving lights.

The car sitting in front of my house next to the "well used" `73 Honda CB360T (which is for sale if anybody needs a parts bike).

Here are a couple of pics while at my grandparents farm. In the second photo, the GLR is parked next to their old 1950's model Massey Harris 44 tractor.

My car sitting at my dad's house; in my opinion this is one of the best pics I currently have of the GLR.

After a quick run of what I call "spirited driving," I ended up losing one of the hubcaps that I bought. So I removed the other three and I was lucky enough to find another set of 4 identical to the first set, albeit a chrome set.

This is where I brought in the official GLR designation. Using the same blue "R Racing" decal that I put just behind the b-pillars, I separated the "Racing" suffix leaving only the "R." It almost looks as if the R was cut to fit right into the L in "GL." I also threw on a "Limited Edition" tag on the other side of the trunklid next to the Ford logo for good measure.

This is my lovely little GLR sitting next to my dad's `99 Cavalier 2-Door Coupe.

Another shot of the GLR in front of my pad.

This is the car out at the Tanger Mall again in its current form.

Here are a few pics from a misty day.

Here are some interior pics. Visible are the metal pedals that I bought, and also the aftermarket shift knob that I bought. I plan on chopping it so that it's shorter, then installing the leather shift boot that I received from a Honda Civic. I wasn't really big on the rubber shift boot that it came with from the factory.

Visible here is the switch that I installed for the driving lights.

At long last is the photo of the 2.3L HSC power plant. Factory specs again are 96 hp @ 4,200 rpm and 126 lb/ft of torque @ 2,600 rpm.

Here is a close up of the R Racing decal on my windows just behind the B-pillars. This is what I derived my GL "R" from on my trunklid.

Here is the GLR's first snow under my ownership, out at the Tanger mall in front of Subway.

Here is the GLR on Thanksgiving day. Gravel travel is quite apparent, and apalling.

This is the GLR getting snowed on again on December 6, 2007.
