This is my 1970 Datsun 240Z. It's a Series 1 because it was the first body style before Datsun changed the hatch vents to the upper quarters. I bought her in October of 02' and haven't stopped working on her or adding things yet. The sound of my exhaust (sound bites) was used on the Xbox game "Forza Motorsport 2" You'll find my name (David Irwin) in the credits under the "Thanks to" area. They've moved the Dyno sessions area on their site but it was on there at one time.

So far, Ive added.....
Power windows, power locks, full Viper alarm with the works, Pioneer AM/FM/CD with XM radio. I've also installed 2) 4" kicker 2-ways in the doors, 2) 5 1/2" pioneer slim-line 2-ways in the rear (stock locations) 2) 6" Alpine 2-ways in custom Fiberglass Kick-pods in the front footrest area. 2) 10" MTX subwoofers in the wheel well, in a custom made wood and fiberglass enclosure that takes up the whole spare wheel well, A Coustic 400 watt 2ch amp sits behind the passenger side seat and powers the subs

I also have a Coustic 400 watt 4 channel amp bolted down behind the drivers seat for the other 6 speakers. I now have a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/XM radio with a Coustic Sub woofer control knob above it. I also have a 7" fold down monitor under the glovebox and a DVD player in the center console with headphones optional for the passenger.  I use the DVD player for playing burnt DVD's of the cars progress at car-shows.

The new GRIFFIN 2-core radiator is big enough to cool a big block but works awesome in the Z. I bought this after some kid in a Mazda B2000 truck decided to plant his rear bumper into my grill and destroyed the Cowl Induction hood in the first picture of this page.  New hood and paint lood better than the black hood I had.  I had to make custom top and bottom mounting plates for the Radiator out of 1/8" aluminum alloy (much stronger) These are Weber 40DCOE's with a Cannon Manifold. They are a bitch to tune and you'll see on the last page that I went back to the Original SU carbs, after Polishing the hell out of them and giving them a good rebuild. No more back firing.

RIP Hood. After the kid hit me, 3 weeks of hard work went in the garbage. So here's a little dedication to th hood, may it Rest In Peace.  I plan on making another one soon, for one of the Z's.

Dave that is an amazing Z! I love all the painstaking work you have put into it. I think I'm going to go with a TWM cold air set-up but I'm intrigued with the cowl induction you have fabbed for your. Great job! *****
