Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is a 1.8 mile, 10 turn road racing course about 35 miles west of Tulsa.
I went there on 13 May, 2007 and it was my first time on the track.
Let me just say that the S60 is totally not geared for road racing at all. I was mostly in 3rd gear the whole time and occasionally downshifted to 2nd to pull me through two of the turns and there are only a couple of stretches where I barely used 4th gear.
Unfortunately, 4th gear is my strongest and longest gear and my car is a beast on the highway.
The Volvo, in my opinion, is too heavy and not geared for road racing at all.
But I did have fun. A "perfect run" is about 1 minute and 35 seconds. The fastest recorded time I managed was 2 minutes and 4 seconds. I think I broke under the 2 minute mark on my very last run which was my goal but unfortunately, my transponder was not working and didn't record my times.
Road racing is completely different than the 1/4 mile track. 20 minutes of full concentration and knowing when to brake, shift, accelerate and turn versus 14-16 seconds of pointing the car straight ahead and mashing on the gas pedal. I definately like road racing a lot more.
I did record 3 of my runs on my camera and maybe I'll upload them some time. They're not very exciting though as Hallett is more of a technical course rather than a high speed course.
