HoverFish's 1989 Chrysler LeBaron

This is my $600 LeBaron I picked up as a second car. Originally we were getting a second car to use as a beater, but I think this is one that's worth fixing up a bit. The J-body LeBarons are soon-to-be-classics in my opinion.

It had the 2.5L TBI and the 3-speed automatic. BO-RING! I've since swapped in a 2.5L Turbo 1 and a 5-speed.  See page 3 for that.

She's not perfect, I know.  I've already replaced a large chunk of the floor pans and the front of the passenger's side rocker where they were rotted out. I also have a set of doors from a donor car I found at the junkyard that I haven't yet put on. I'm replacing the doors because both doors had rotten seals, allowing water to get in, and they're rusting from the inside out.

Did I mention these doors are blue and silver? That's going to mean a new paint job.  I'll be changing the colour slightly, the new colour is Chrysler Inferno Red.  The paint is pretty oxidized where the clear coat has peeled off anyway.  It also needs a new top, I'll be switching to a black one.  I just need to build up the confidence to replace it myself, as the only shop in town that replaces them charges an arm and a leg.

nice lebaron. I agree with you about these being soon-to-be classics. I know that people one day are going to be pulling these out of a junk yard and fixing them up. I had to replace my top too. I bought one online for 170, and then had it put on at a shop for 300. not too expensive for a convertible top. keep up the good work and hope all goes well
