Here is the 2005 purple baja.
This is how she bought it:
If you are near Seattle, a warning to stay away from Renton Subaru. They had no pricing or information in any of there new Subarus (I believe is illegal to not post the msrp) and just made up prices when you asked. They said this model was 26,000, of course the MSRP was 21,900. She said there is no way we can sell it for that price. We sat the lady and down and used her computer to bring up the Subaru web site and showed it to her, then said said well ok I guess we can do it for that then. If we had not done known the price going in we would have paid $4000 more for absolutely nothing besides funding the sales ladys next vacation.
Then all the extras they tried to add on would have "only" added 200$ to each months payment. 12,000$ more over 5 years, again for nothing. Its funny, the sales staff just gets done telling you how great Subarus are and they run forever, 5 minutes later they are saying how expensive it can be to get them repaired and they recommend you buy a better warranty. We have now gone past the mileage the extended warranty would have given us and the car has not needed 1 repair.
Since it seemed it only came in 3 colors in 05;
We didnt have much choice, we liked the blue the best. The problem was use to see several a day that look just like it so it needed to stand out.
Now we have lots of people who ask where we bought it, because they looked at buying one but they didnt see any colors they liked so didnt buy one or bought a different car.
We had it done at Maaco, it was about $1100 for a urethane base / clear coat paint. They also did the engine compartment, door and tailgate jams so you dont see blue when ever you open a door.
As of 2009 we are now up to about 105,000 miles. Never needed any work besides a tune up at 50,000 and oil changes every 6000-7000 miles. Has never been back to a dealership or repair shop since the day we got it. Subarus tend to be low maintenance.
