Speed is what Im looking for in this car. Thats why I picked the BPT 1.8L engine for my base platform. Stock they run around 185 HP, at stock boost which is around 9-11 psi. I run it at 15psi, stock tune with the BP26 ecu.
This started out as a Mx-3 RS 1.6L SOHC with 88whp. Very slow, but I see lots of the MXers still unning it.
I changed it into a 1.8L DOHC JDM turbo. Probably one of the best performance upgrades for the MX3. Trust me when I say almost 200whp in this car is crazy fast. With it only weighing around 2100 pounds, the weight to horse power ratio is AWESOME.
I did this whole swap in my back yard. It took about three days to do the first time and 1 day the second.
Here is a couple pics of blown BPT
I picked up the next one for 400 and swapped over the parts from BPT to the BP.
Cleaned it up and repainted
To convert a BP into a BPT I had to drill and tap a oil return hole into the oil pan.
Im still using the F-series transaxle, but I will upgrade in the future.
Added powder coated valve cover, Rx7 B code Vaf,Fidanza short shifter, Magnacore 10mm,and Corksport clutch line
HKS SSQ blowoff valve and SPEC stage 2 clutch kit
I used the factory BPT harness and BP26 ECU
Here is some pics of my intercooler install
It was a nice fit. Had room to put bumper back on. Installed it on the AC brackets.
Nice and clean
