i just bought these scoops at goodguys
i think they look pretty cool, and it'll be funny to see how many people know the engine is really in back.

66_kid's 1966 Chevrolet Corvair

the scoops reversed

we just relized that this and the vents leak water into the car, and that's why we thing only the driver floors are gone, the water leaks into the subframe, and drips in the floor from the dash. great...

i did some work were the paint was off and rusting. needs more sanding. and bondo from what looks like a new piece welded in

66_kid's 1966 Chevrolet Corvair
really fast body job. there's run in the paint. i didn't get all the rust off, but i didn't do it because the stupid mirror screw is stripped.

after sanding the front fender (right side) down, not as bad as we thought, but still.

Aaron, thanks for the nice comments about my Monza. I'm not wild about the appearance of the seats, either - but they're sure comfortable. In any event, I still have the originals in excellent condition. Really nice project you have there. Looks like you're having a lot of fun!

Hey- good start there! You're incorporating a lot of the same ideas that I want to use on my 65 Vair. Love those hood-stripes! I've been tempted to put a fake hoodscoop on the front too and see who notices.... By the way the 'reversed' position looks better.... What are these 'convertible trunk weights' you refer too? I've heard of those before, but have no idea what they do. Reply to tardisi@peoplepc.com

Absolutley Love your Corvair! And I love the scoops....on the front of your ...Corvair??? Perhaps you could run your air vents through them? Just a thought. Personally I like the original rims that came with the car, however, doing your mods will increase the overall rod factor I'm sure. The scoops are the initial giveaway. I hope you continue to post your progress, and because your project intrests me this much, I'm making you a friend. No pressure or anything...
As for your Ebay purchase, check out my friends ride! You can link to his site from my page, or go directly to Fireball22.
He bought his car on Ebay, and tells a great story about his 9 month journey to finish his car. Of course, my site tells a small portion of that story, and you get the pleasure of seeing a............Saturn......you wern't expecting a classic were you?
Good luck with your car! I wish you the best!
