1986 Bertone X1/9
My mom picked up a Bertone X1/9 this weekend! under 29,000 on the engine and only $3800!! (Retired guy in Florida)
It does need a little bit of body work, so room to grow for this baby. (plus I'm going to set mom up with a stereo and speakers)

The original Bertone wheels... The inserts are in the rear trunk (we'll just need to find a creative way to attach them... To replace them would be hundreds a piece)

Here's some rust, but we've got a spare fender section that isn't rusted in the rear trunk as well, so we're getting that fixed.

The blank on the right is for the clock, we have purchased an original Fiat clock and we're going to install it as soon as it arrives (it also gives 24 hr time!!)

So is this basically a Fiat X1/9? Only in the same way all X1/9's are basically Bertones. The X1/9 was designed by Nuccio Bertone and produced by Fiat. But for the 1986 production year, Fiat decided it didn't want to produce the car. So the X1/9 was produced that year at the Carrozzeria building of Gruppo Bertone. As such this means that the 1986 X1/9 was both designed and manufactured by Bertone. Now, if the X1/9 had been built by Fiat and just badged as a Bertone, it would be a Fiat... instead it was built by Bertone at their facility with their machines and equipment. As far as I'm aware, that was the only production year built exclusively by Bertone. They built a few during other production years including the first.
