The J10

This is my 78 Jeep J10... About 12 years ago one of my brothers buddy drove it into the back of my moms mini van. the mini van was totaled.. with bent frame and messed up the trans
But the jeep..... was still runing... only smashed the fender and the grill... i felt bad for the van... the rear end of the van was pushed in about 2 and a half Feet...
heres the damage..

were going to take out the old 3 speed and put in a auto trans with a floor shifter, new transfer case and a new front & rear axles.
under the hood is a 258 or 4.2 straight six. it has low end power out the ass...stancil1216's 1978 Jeep J10 Honcho stancil1216's 1978 Jeep J10 Honcho

I'm lookin' to get me a J10 and need some advice from other j10ers. I have a choice between an 80' with the 360amc 3 spd auto for $650, not in running condition needs $1400-$2000 to get it back and running. Or a 77' J10 with a 360amc 3 spd auto for $2000, in running condition. I'm mostly looking for advice on if the 77' is going to be better than the 80' or vice-a-versa, any help would be great, thanks.
