I recently acquired this beautiful BULLITT Mustang from it's original owner. It has 55,000 original miles and is bone stock with the exception of a K&N Cotton Air Filter in the stock air box, and a set of -275- -40- -17- Z rated PIRELLI P Zero NERO tires

In 2001, Ford offered a special version of its GT with the "Bullitt" moniker. It was a tribute to the fastback driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 movie BULLITT. This movie is famous for its high speed chase, still considered by many to be the best car chase scene from a movie ever. The car was designed with tighter and more precise handling than a standard Mustang GT. To accomplish this, FORD lowered it 3/4 inches, gave it Tokico shocks and welded in sub-frame connectors. To enhance performance, FORD also gave it a new billet intake with high flow design, 58mm twin-bore throttle body, high-flow mufflers tuned to mimic the sound of the original fastback, and special underdrive pullies. Ford reported an increase in the power to a conservative 265 hp, although many owners report numbers closer to the 270-280 range. (It is rumored that FORD underrated the BULLITT out of fear that it would cut into COBRA sales.) More telling is the torque curve, which was a tremendous improvement over the standard GT models. 90% of its 305 Ft Lbs is available from 2000 rpm, in contrast to the standard GT which didn't really hit its stride until around 3000 rpm. This improvement of the torque curve really comes to play in the quarter mile, as the BULLITT Mustangs will run the 1/4 mile in about 13.8 - 14.2 at around 104mph. Styling cues for the BULLITT package included Billet pedals and shifter, gauges and seats remenicent of the 68, red twin piston BREMBO brake calipers with the Mustang logo on them squeezing 13 inch rotors, and deletion of the rear wing and fog lights and side scoops in front of the rear wheels, as well as a different shape to the rear quarter window.

The BULLITT Mustang was offered in three colors: Dark Highland Green, Black, and True Blue. Total production was 5,582 units, with color breakdown as follows:
3,041 Dark Highland Green
1,818 Black (ala bad guys Charger in the movie)
723 True Blue

This is the picture FORD released with the concept BULLITT. Fortunately the real car retained most of the goodness, and in my opinion even had some improvements over the concept. I like the brakes and wheels much better on the real car for example.

My BULLITT is the Dark Highland Green color, as was the original 68 fastback Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the movie. The only way to purchase a Mustang this color stock is to buy a 1968 model, or the 2001 BULLITT.

It is a pleasure to drive and ride in. It handles very well due to the factory suspension, 3/4 of an inch lower than a standard GT, Tokico shocks and struts stock, and sub-frame connectors. It also stops on a dime thanks to the twin piston brembo brakes and 13" front rotors stock. Nyt_Muves's 2001 Ford Mustang

Recently I had the chance to run along a little while with some of the nicest people. They were on a road rally known as the Coperstate 1000. I made a good friend that day. He wanted to try out the BULLITT, and thus I had the chance to spend some time in his 1968 Ferrari 330 GT. It was a beautiful car, and a great memory. It is in some of the pictures here along side the BULLITT.

For more pictures of the incredible machines that were on this rally, take a look at the next few pages. It is really worth a look!

What do you think of this pic? Pretty funny I think...Nyt_Muves's 2001 Ford Mustang

This is one of the most well balanced automobiles I have ever had the pleasure of owning. It will remain clean and it will remain stock.

I think that this would be a very enjoyable car to watch in the BULLRUN. It is kind of a new meets old. Still edgy and with characteristics of the 60s and 70s American muscle cars, coupled with modern technology. I truly believe that in the not so distant future, the BULLITT will grow to be a true classic, and will be one of the more desirable and rare incarnations of the MUSTANG.

I want to send out special thanks and a big hello to the guys and gals of ALLFORDMUSTANGS.COM Great bunch of people.

No. No snakes. 2 lizards, 3 dogs, a bird and the rat. The bird is named BULLITT and he loves to ride in the car. The dogs were all saved from breeders. The JACK RUSSELL has an underbite like a bulldog, so they were going to destroy him. The smaller of the 2 Chihuahuas was born with 3 legs so they were going to destroy him. We call him tres. And the Biggest of the three is a large standard Chihuahua named Pedro.
