I own a 2004 Ford Ranger. I am building a prerunner out of it using the Dixon Bros Racing long-travel suspension kit. This kit is well engineered to provide 15" of front-end travel while still being able to use 4WD.

The kit uses FOX 2.5 in remote resevoir coil-over shocks to replace the torsion bars of the factory set-up. For clearance and to aid in travel we are using Glassworks Unlimited 6" bulge fiberglass fenders

The tires and wheels we are using a 285/75/16 BFG Mud Terrain TAs wrapped around 16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic Locks.

Performance wise all that has been done is to use a Superchips Flashpaq tuner. We did not expect big power numbers from this. The main use of it is to correct the speedo for the larger tires.

So far all we have done is the front suspension. Future mods include adding Deaver leaf springs to the rear with longer shackles. Using 2.5 in FOX smooth body remote resevoir shocks with a custom mount under the bed. This way I don't have to cut holes in the bed. I still need to use my truck as a truck.

Got the bedsides flared. Bigger tires need more room. I found out the hard way when covering the BITD Terrible?s Town 250. The rear-end articulated and wreaked havoc on the wheel openings while getting to our spot for covering the race.
