When I got it... March 2007

The goal: To build a daily driver and weekend ripper for the the 2008 Challenge (http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/news/category/2007-challenge/ ) Budget is under a microscope and all the receipts are kept to be within $2008 budget. I am (with the gracious help of my friend Nic) building up the '82 rabbit.

The motor will be a 1.8 16v turbo. Tranny will be a 5 speed diesel for the longer gears.

I cut out the rusty driver's side floor pan. There is a lot of work to be done in the corner to the left of the pedals. Wednesdays is "car night" so there will be continuous updates to this post.

Here's what I made in Dubmodder... I'll have another more accurate 3d render soon:

Satin/Satan black with white german tank crosses on it. I may not get super wide flares for the challenge but eventually it will have the 4" BBR racing flares.

K26 turbo :D

We yanked the engine. We had some minor setbacks with the axles, but it's out.

We cut out the rear brace for the c arm.. it was rusted all to hell.

The unibody bent slightly when we jacked up the front. We are going to have to do some major strengthening in that area. The door was just a tad off because of it. You can see the circled area is where it is slightly crimped. It's a good thing it's not too terrible... but a b!tch nonetheless. We put a jack stand under the crimp and let down the front. It's very close to being true now. The cage will help greatly.

Tonight the work continues and more pics will follow.
