After 12 years of searching, and coming close on several occasions, I FINALLY located and successfully purchased a New Old Stock set of 1979 Bronco Freewheeling Package Chromatic Stripes. Yes, the huge 20 piece set of original decals, still in the Ford box! I had been advised by several sources that the original adhesive would be questionable at best, and some of these stripes had sustained damage over the years of storage, so my goal was to have them reproduced as accurately as possible. It took 2 years of searching, and a couple of false starts, before I finally secured a vendor to do the work of reproducing them. In September of 2011, I delivered two sample pieces for preliminary work. In December I finally received a quote for the work, and in January 2012 I delivered the remainder of my NOS stripes, and a big check to get the work started. March 29, 2012, I picked up 10 beautiful sets of reproduction stripes. On Saturday the 31st, I picked up my Bronco from the body shop. I was advised to wait at least a few more weeks for the paint to cure before the stripes were applied. It was actually over two months before the stripes went on.
