This is my 78 Bronco. It has been in the family since 1982 and I have grown up in and around this truck. Its been in close to perfect shape until a 4th grade teacher backed into it. There is a small dent on the passenger side but other than that the truck is in extremely good condition. The motor was rebuilt in 1988 and has about 200,000 on it. On 8/19/09 I discovered a crack down the #1 cylinder. The motor was sent to Portland Engine Rebuilders for a high torque rebuild w/Crower Valvetrain components. It was line-honed, the crank was ground and polished, connecting rods were reconditioned, new pistons, bored .040" over, and larger, single-groove valves were installed. In addition the motor has an edelbrock torker highrise intake manifold, edelbrock 600cfm carb, headers, 2.5" exhaust to a 3" X-pipe and 3" exhaust from the x-pipe back, MSD ignition & distributor, Taylor wires, and an Optima Yellowtop battery. It has a C6 transmission w/B&M Stage 2 Shift Kit, NP205 transfercase, 3.5:1 gears, 15"x8" Aluminum Rims from LMC Truck on 33"x12.5" BFG Mud Terrains. I recently replaced the carpet and repaired the grounds. The sound system consists of a Kenwood Excelon Deck w/IP500 Ipod Interface, 2 Boston Acoustic S75 Coaxial speakers, 2 Boston Acoustic S60 Coaxial speakers, Kenwood Excelon 620 watt 4-channel amp, 2 Kicker 12" CVR's in a Sub Zero sealed box w/920 watt 2 channel amp. The truck looks great in the pictures but does have quite a few issues seeing that it is 30 years old. It was my dads work truck/painting truck. It sat for about 7 years until he gave it to me to fix up. There is only minor, non-cancerous rust on the tailgate, and the liscense plate lights are rotted. The paint has some rough areas (cracks and clear peeling on roof). All in all this truck is rock solid and reliable. For a 30 year old truck with over 300k it has been incredible. I now drive it from Oregon to Idaho for college. 8.5-9mpg on the highway kills the wallet & the environment so I keep the trips to a minimum.
The new motor is ridiculous. It runs much better. The torque, the power, and the response are incredible. I will get a video up once I clean it up a bit.
