I got this car in a trade. I rebuild an engine, and I get this car. Seems like a fair trade!
It needs a lot of work though. Lots of cosmetic issues and the engine barely boosts. There are lots of leaks in the charge pipes to the Intercooler, and a couple exhaust manifold studs are broken off.
The turbo seems is great shape though, but the engine make a loud ticking sound on deceleration.
Here are a couple specs of interest:
Engine: Inline 4, liquid cooled, cast iron block, cast aluminum head, SOHC 8 valve. Water-cooled turbocharger with air-to-air intercooler
Bore x Stroke: 3.46 in x 3.23 in / 88.0 mm x 82.0 mm
Displacement: 122 ci / 1994 cc
Compression Ratio: 7.9:1 (WAY TOO LOW)
Horsepower: 140 HP @ 5400 RPM
Torque: 166 lb/ft @ 3000 RPM
This car would have a much better competitor back in the late 80's if the compression ratio were higher.
In my opinion, it shoult be ~9 to 9.5:1.
That would have brought it up to 170-190HP.
