This is my Land Rover, bought it when I' was 13 years old seven years ago, from a norwegian guy wich was living in Iceland at the time. He had given it the nickname
"Desert Queen" because it's equipped with a safari top and Iceland has actually the largest desert in Europe though it's not the type of desert you are used to see.
Since than this name has stuck to it, and I' have had stickers made that say Desert Queen.
When this car was bought it had a 2.25 litre diesel engine a a four gear gearbox.
A couple of years back I' switched to a 2.5 litre petrol engine and a more robust 5 gear gearbox, from a 1990 defender.
But that's not all, it has a double front bumper, not much unlike the lightweight army Land Rovers had back in the days, but this one is custom made from 2 x 1980 series III by my father. It was than re-galvanized.
Hence I' live in Iceland and like to travel I' come across a lot of rivers and streams that have to be crossed to get from A to B so I'with the help of my father made a custom snorkel which is more rugged than the once you can buy, and also it doesn't use the hole on the side of the car, which I' just don't think looks as good as this does. :)
Having fun in the snow!
It has a roof rack which has a hi-lift jack on one side and a shuffle on the other, on the front sits the spare tyre.
She's a beauty isn't she? :)
And since the spare tyre is not on the backdoor I' have a 20 litre jerry can in a custom made bracked. Bracket is black and jerry can is the same color as the car so It looks good, also there is a nother shuffle stuck to the back of the car.
When we changed out the engine and gearbox, we had to change the floor and everything surrounding the gearbox, so the floor is a mix of the old floor a floor from a 1990 and the same kind of aluminium as on the hood which looks really cool,no carpets needed because the aluminum does the job.
Light switches panel me and my brother made, you can see it above the rearview mirror on next image. One for lights on frontbumper, one for worklights on the back, and two for planed worklights on each side of the car, if I' would have to change tyres in the dark or get stuck or what ever. And two spare ones just in case I' think of something cool... :)
2x 10" subwoofers In a custom landroverbox.
It both looks really good in the car and it sounds really good. :)
2x200 watts for the subs.
