1987 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3-16V Evolution2 Replica

(1 of 8 Replicas in California )

First and foremost I bought my car the way you see it , a fully finished Yellow Evolution2 body kit on a 1987 2.3-16V. This is a replica built on a w201 2.3-16v.

(2.3-16V Less than 2000 made for USA )

My Goals in no order:

1. Fix the Car and get it running for now.

2. Return the car To OEM look outside and inside with my own little touch.

3. Install my rebuilt Euro Spec Engine.

4. Install my EFI components.

5. Install higher rated clutch. New drive shaft. Rebuild the rear Differential.

6. Maybe an Airbag suspention. Maybe!!

7. Fix the interior and install my new seats and maybe a new steering wheel.

8. Paint the car with the Evo2 Bodykit a (few years from now ) newer Mercedes Black or flat black for now if its more cost effective.

9. ( 20 years from now ) Maybe remove the bodykit and return the car to the OEM 2.3-16V Bodykit. Or i could just buy another 16V.

NO Turbos, Super Chargers, Nos, Flash Gauges, or Huge Sound System

will ever touch this car.

This isn't a race car and it will never be used for the intension's of saying my car is faster. My intension's are to enjoy my hobby of working on cars while building a more powerful and reliable Mercedes Benz at the same time.

Don't Be Afraid to Ask Me Questions!!

I reply back in little as one day.

These videos will explain my cars history

My car started it's life in the San Francisco Bay Area as a smoke silver 16v. It was sold in 1996 by it's first owner. The 2nd owner sold it to his friend who did the Evolution2 conversion in 2002. the 3rd owner who did all the work got tired of the car and later sold it back to his friend (the 2nd owner). He got tired of the car also. And on Aug. 2006 I became the 5th owner.

This is how my Mercedes Benz looked when the last owner had it (Below).

The items modified by the last ownerS .

The Evolution2 bodykit,18x9inch BBS RX GT used, KYB ajust a shock in the rear, Red Koni Adjustable Shocks Front, Ebay DTM style exhaust, Removed the stereo system, Sony CDX10, Yellow inserts on the front seats, Yellow MoMo steering wheel, H&R springs for the 2.3 (No spring pad in the rear), Non Hub-centric One inch spacer in the rear wheels and non hub-centric quarter inch for the front, and Tint.

In the hands of the last owner It had no Mercedes grille, but It did have a metal grille from Home Depo that was rusted. I assume it was chrome a long time ago.

As you can see the engine was in need of some TLC. The valve cover paint was peeling. Everything looked ugly and dirty. But at the time I didn't care at all. I just wanted the car in my ownership. From what the last owner told me he took care for the car and changed the oil in the engine and transmission. But the car did sit around a lot.

I purchased the car without my parents consent and stash the car at a friends house on the side of the road under a cover. I was hiding the car for about 5 months until winter passed.

My Dad is really picky when it comes to cars. He likes them new and clean.

He didn't want to help me fix it let alone help me buy it, so everything came out of my pocket.

Since the car was parked at my friends house I couldn't do anything to fix it. During the first few months I couldn't even do an oil change because i didn't have all my tools let alone experience working on this type of Mercedes.

The cause and effect was I didn't drive the car anywhere.

January 2007 I got tired of hiding my car and just parked it front of my house under the car cover and waited till my parents got home from work. They took it ok. They just asked me why I got the car. My answer was

"Because i wanted it, it makes me happy"
