Hi!..... Welcome to my page!..... This is my 1997 Honda Civic EK hatch road race car.

Thanks for all your votes!

I just got back from the Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge. I was able to take the win in Independent/JV and put down the fastest overall time for the entire JV class with a 1:40.5

Thank you to everyone that helped to put on such a great event!

First a little background on myself, I'm a manager/buyer for a Ski/Snowboard retail store in the Philadelphia area. My free time is split between building my car, racing, skateboarding and snowboarding. I started out autocrossing back in 1998 then did my first HPDE in 2001. A few years later I took the plunge and went for my competition license with NASA and have been racing with Honda Challenge H1 class ever since.

Growing up I wasn't big time into cars, I was spending all my free time skateboarding and snowboarding. It wasn't until I purchased my first brand new car, a 1994 Milano Red Honda Civic SI hatch that got me hooked. Back then I could hardly change out a brake pad much less swap an engine but I've learned a lot over the years. From the engine to the brakes to the suspension, I've personally installed and rebuilt most everything on this car. (with exception for the roll cage, I think I'll leave that one for the pro's.)

My current car that you see here was purchased in late 1998 and is the 3rd Honda Civic that I've built. From the very beginning I wanted this car to be focused on track performance with a good balance of handling, braking and speed. The first motor I swapped in was a basic B16a with cams, then came a B18c5 (w/CTR pistons, BC4cams, etc.) and this season I took the leap into the K territory, a 2006 K24a2 to be exact.

I chose the K24a2 (found in the Acura TSX) because of it's wide Torque band and high HP potential in stock form. Honda Challenge rules state the K series motors must consist of all OEM internals so I left the motor untouched. The car put down 233whp and 192wtq with just a intake, header, exhaust and tuning with a Hondata K-pro. The only downfall to my new motor setup is the 150+lbs of weights I've had to bolt into the car to make the 2450lb. minimum weight.

My first event this season at VIR full course went well, I was able to put down lap times in the 2:12's and take home 2nd in H1 on both Saturday and Sunday. I have a few minor kinks to work out with the new setup so I'm confident the car will only get faster.

This year I plan to race as many Honda Challenge events as possible and I'm looking forward to NASA Nationals at Mid Ohio this September. I'm also looking to do a few Time Attacks here and there.

Update 05/21/07: I just got back from BeaveRun with NASA northeast and was able to take home the H1 win both days, the overall win both days and put down a new H1 track record with a 1:04.2.

Here is a video of Saturdays race... Enjoy!

And a friend of mine requested that I post my "Time Attack" lap for the H1 track record so here it is.
