I figured I would post some pics of my old escort, since so many of you like escorts. This car was my daily driver that somehow managed to get so many mods that it turned into more of a show car (I cant leave anything alone).And since I am a speed freak I figured I'd see how fast I could get it to go.
To the best of my knowledge (20 years of building performance cars/show cars)this escort on the bottle ran about a 12.20 e.t. in the QUARTER MILE.

While I cannot verify the quarter e.t. at the track on record(time slip) I have built alot of very fast cars and drove and tuned every last one,some on the track,some on the street so I know what im talking about.
The last car I raced before I sold the scort was an 04' vette and I beat him by about 1.75/ 2.0 cars.
The motor had a milled head to bump up compression and a set of cams dialed in for peak power, as well as custom header and exhaust.I built a custom air box(vaf/ vat)from a 2.2l probe with a custom spring and chip, as well as set of injectors and a mallory feul pressure regulator.
It also had the delay valves for the secondary intake runners eliminated and the vac line tied to manifold pressure.
I estimated the h.p. at 200 on the motor and a 50 h.p. shot of nos ( which I know is a modest n.o.s. estimate as I tuned it with 50 h.p. jets as the baseline,but upped the n.o.s. jets till it no longer ran rich).
The trans was the "higher geared" offering so it took off very well, and still had a nice top end.
The car was weighed at roughly 2900 l.b.s. at the scales.
250/275 H.P. and a 2900 lb weight as well as being geared, you get the point, vette killer.
The stats you are about to read are verified as stock vehicle performance for an 01 vette with auto and 01 mustang cobra as well as the 93 scort. Go online to "0-60 and 1-4 mile times for factory stock vehicles" to see for yourself.
01 cobra 0 to 60 - 4.8 sec. / quartermile 13.5 sec.
01 vette 0 to 60 - 4.8 sec. / quartermile 13.1 sec.
91 escort gt 0 to 60 8.0 sec / quartermile 16.3 sec.
my scort had a 91 tranz( high gears)so thats why I listed those times.
So 8.0 minus 4.8 shows a 3.2 second difference to 60 m.p.h.
16.3 minus 13.1 shows the same 3.2 second difference in the quarter mile.
The scort had 127 b.h.p. and 114 lbs torque in stock form.
You can see I easily doubled the horse power and well made up those 3 seconds in the q-mile.
Argue if you want, but I've made my point.
while a 12 sec pass is quick, both of the afore mentioned vehicles would eat it alive with only simple modifications.
BUT IT IS STILL SWEET HANDING A $30,000 CAR ITS ASS WITH AN ESCORT!

This is the rear wind diffuser,I never got to finish it or the side fairings, but in rough form you could tell the difference.In the first picture you can see the front wing underneath, it had a 7 degree rake and really helped high speed stability.
