Please read below about what is one of BMW's greatest performance engineering achievements of the early 90's centered around a 4-door sedan, the M5. Please leave a comment or a vote or both. I will visit your site and return the favor.

bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5
This is a 1991 BMW M5. One of approx. 1200-1400 imported in '91'. The last of the hand assembled ///M cars. While very understated by design and appearance, only a few mods were needed to make my car both a comfortable high speed cruiser and a very capable track car. bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 The S38 3.6l inline 6 cylinder produces approximately 340HP with the current software and in 5th gear at the 7,250rpm redline a speed of 170mph can be acheived. 1/4 mile times of 13.8 @ 101mph with 0-60 @ 5.6 seconds. I am a High Performance Driving Instructor for the BMW Car Club of America and the President of the Missouri Valley Chapter in Nebraska. This car has visited many tracks in the Midwest over the past 8 years I have owned it. I turned 100k miles in the Fall of 2007 (see 100mph at 100k miles picture).  Now with 104k, it still looks bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 and drives bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 like new. I have installed a Racing Dynamics Strut Brace bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 , a Mark D'Sylva custom chip, the rear 20mm sway bar from the M5 touring and the staggerd 17x9in. wheels on the rear from the N'gring setup bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 and the 17x8in. remain in the front. While the car is tracked bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 , autocrossed, competes in rallies bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 and driven as is was designed, it is just as at home at a car show or a show and shine. A custom home built hidden hitch was fabricated and used to pull my home built enclosed trailer
bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 to the track. Just about everything I need from track wheels and tires, Hawk HT-10 brake pads, an EZ-up, aluminum jacks, nitrogen bottle, tools, rotors, belts, fluids and everything I might need is right there. My friend, fellow instructor and co-driver Bruce (below) likes the car as well bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 .
I also installed a Nakamichi Cd45z head unit when the factory unit gave up. I also installed an Infinity Bass Link subwoofer. The 10 stock Alpine speakers sound so much better with the nicer head unit and the addition of the Bass Link.
The ellipsoid headlights were upgraded with 5000k HID bulbs and ballasts. Huge difference and well worth the money.
No expense is spared keeping this machine in top shape. I am a professional Aircraft mechanic and am the only person to perform maintenance on this car. That included a complete teardown and rebuild of the transmission to replace some synchros that were notchy. It has worked perfectly since the rebuild 4 years ago.
The original paint still looks as good as a new M5 bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 . The M5 is a true 4-door sports car with 4 person capicity and one of the first of its kind. Even for a car that is over 18 years old, the E34 M5 can hold its own with many of the sports cars of its era and today. bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5 bmwm591's 1991 BMW M5

Jeff, I also own a '91 M5. I need to replace the four headlights. What lights do you have on your car and where could I purchase them (low and high beam). Paul

G'Day Mate! It really is such a sweet ride, I am envious of you to be able to take your car and to have the ability to drive it as intended on a track. I am currently getting some tuition at the trackdays from Members of the BMW Club of Queensland on how to drive a car fast, so that I may make the 540 a fast car. I went with the solid Thrust arm bushes and even though it is a little harsher over expansion joints the payoff is in the improved precision on turn in at the track, still got a long way to go to get the handling sorted out but it is all coming along nicely. If I can sort out the twitchy/tramtracking front end I will be a happy man. Cheers!
