Page 5: New Alpine Head Unit Upgrade

At the beginning of my sound system project, I wanted a multimedia head unit with navigation. Unfortunately, the money I had for the system ran out, so I had to settle for a single din unit in the meantime. After working some OT at my job; I was able to save enough dough to purchase a new multimedia unit.

As I mentioned before, I wanted a head unit capable of playing movies, iPod control, rear video, rear camera, and of course NAV. I had pretty much narrowed down to a couple of units: The Alpine IVA-W205 or Pioneer AVIC-D3, so after doing a little research I decided to go with the Alpine. One of the reasons I selected the Alpine was because it won "Best of Innovations Award" at the 2007 International CES Awards.

Also, I'm intrigued by the fact this head unit you just flip down the screen and insert the new Blackbird II into the built-in dock. Once inside, you get a complete Audio/Video/NAV system, and the best part...is portable too!

Good job on the amp rack and sub. It looks great. You have more guts than me to do the famous Jotaro mod. I guess I'm stuck with orange.

Sweet truck! I wish my truck came with the hood scoop. Your blue gauges look so nice. Is that your stock cluster or a new one? Jotaro did mine in white. Great mod. Thanks for the advice on the aftermarket alarm.
