Intro
3/5/07:
I got a '95 850GLT as a gift for getting a job two years ago. On my way home October 10, I hit a corner too hard and to avoid hitting a van my car hit a tree and died. I was originally planning to fix it with a salvage car at the junkyard.
The guy at the junkyard wanted way too much for the totaled car ($1200) and that was all I had. We decided we wanted to get our mechanic to look at it to make sure he could fix it. We just came home. I was all sad and just happened to be looking through craigslist when I found a 94 Turbo for $1200! It was like it was meant to be, however it was two hours from the house.
Well, it turns out my dad had business in the next town over so we went to go see the car today. We talked him down to $1000 since it needed an upper engine mount (which he gave us) and seems to have a slight oil leak (my dad suggested a seal somewhere). Turbo is so much cooler than NA.
It was so dirty when I got it but I swapped out everything on the inside from the 95 and the lights on the outside also.
Update 3/12/07:
After about 30 hours of hardcore man love this is how she looks:
The 95 Taillight Conversion:
Yay! A fuel door!:
Cleaned the rims!:
Replaced the seats (Drivers side only has cracks, passenger one small rip compared to the old torn to shreds seats):
Rear Seats:
Replaced the headliner on the roof and sun roof cover:
Threw my sony HU in, replaced all interior switches with the ones from the 95:
Replaced complete center console, changed the chewed up shifter, replaced the microswitch:
Replaced broken headlight, deleted horns (they have that "always on" thing) inserted the little plastic grill on the lower bumper and got my hood latch (thanks pocket penguin) so I could finally throw my grill on:
Next to come (I still need an amp) 2 JL Audio 12"s (I got for free!) :
This is how she was:
My Ghetto hood latch:
A little key action:
And here is just an idea of what I had to rip off the old car to move on to this one:
This weekend it will be tinted and dropped hopefully (I still have my B+Gs). Followed by Rims and in the next couple of months new paint. I still have my projectors which seem repairable and my HIDs so hopefully those will go on soon too.
