Update (15/11/09)

Well well, long long time and no update. Where to start...well the new hilux diff is all fitted in and going well. After 3 years and one month of being off the road I finally got to drive it last Friday when i picked it up from the tuners and I just couldn't stop smiling. No traction right up to 3rd gear and it pulls hard and sounds angry as hell. This tame car just turned into a wild beast!

It spun up 263hp (around 195kw) on the dyno which exceeded my expectations! The throttle body got changed out for a rb25det item to allow for better flow also. So basically now it's getting a handbrake cable made up and couple other things I have to do to get it ready for a cert, then wof and reg and she'll be road legal again. I'll get a video up at some stage in the coming weeks to.

Update (19/04/09):

Picked up sweet new shortened hilux LSD diff from mate who did it for me. Running disc brakes on rear now of the u12 bluebird type with EBC pads.

Test fitted it and shock mounts line up fine. Tramp bars have to be sent back to him to be made ajustable as they don't quite fit. And scored some new U-bolts off my flatmate to suit the obviously wider housing, just have to get new plates, or the old plates redrilled with the holes in correct position.
Then it's a matter of getting the handbrake setup which uses a completly different way to the standard capri one but a fucking way better way at that! a "u" shaped cable off each calliper then a single cable from the middle of that cable to the handbrake itself. The brakes I will just need a custom bit of hose made up from the splitter on the diff to the line that's already run under the car where the old bit connected to.

Fair bit of work to get into but I'll get there..

Update (05/03/09):

Wow, long time no update. Still doesn't go. Major shame, just a lack of money and motivation between loads of work. Excuses excuses. Anyway, I've found motivation for it and am kicking myself I ever lost it.

Basically it was starting up and idling fine, then had the computer software upgraded, so lost it's old tune. I've just pulled out the standard 2L diff and sending it to my mate to use as a template for the LSD hilux one I'm having shortened. It will be running u12 Bluebird discs and callipers, so that will make a nice upgrade on the rear end for sure!! Soon as that's in, I'll have the driveshaft made up and it's off to the shop for dyno tuning! Pictures to come.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (05/09/07): Panel/paint is more or less done, has to go back to have front skirt painted, mirrors fitted and a cut and polish etc.
Fitted up new brakes tonight as well, shows in less than 20 days and I still have loads to do..

Update (27/07/07): Right well over the last weekend I unhooked everything and pulled the engine out, so many wires, got to remember where they all go!! Engine coming out:
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
And the following Monday took it down to the panel/paint shop who got to work on it straight away. Shaving the aerial, FORD letters off boot (retaining letters in bonnet) and a few other little badges that were on it for a more clean look.
Heres the progress from that so far:
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri

Have sent a couple more engine peices, bumpers, door latches, window wipers etc away to be chromed as well.
More to come as the work continues..
----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (17/07/07): I didnt want to touch the wiring so I had it professionally done and they have done a awesome job, rewired more or less the whole car and wired in the computer and what not, engine bay looks a lot cleaner now. Couple pics of computer and fuses etc mounted in passenger footwell:
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
All the intercooler piping is done, as is the pod filter piping, complete with racepro silicone joiners. External wastegate mounted up (note: plumbed back into exhaust not vented!)
I also ended up getting braided wiring for the oil/water lines for the turbo, and the oil cooler lines, looks really good, Il be ordering more for the brake booster/wastegate/BOV lines in the car once I measure them up.
Pics of engine bay etc:

And a shot of the exhaust system, only one muffler throughout the whole thing so if its to rowdy Il get a resanator or such added in.
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
And finally, il pull out the engine this weekend and its off for a full respray on Monday, back in a month! While engine is out Il pull bits off it and gets them all nicely polished up. Everything is on track for the show in September at this stage.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (2/07/07): Right, some pictures at the auto sparkys, first time pics with turbo and intercooler piping mounted up. Wastegate arrived today so getting welded in soon. Final paint colour chosen, goes in for full respray at end of this month!

----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (24/06/07): Small update, just did the diff up a bit, looks 100 times better now. Other than that car is still out getting wiring done now. Will be a big update to come in a week or two.
Ordered new callipers/discs:

Wire brushed most the crappy paint off:

And sprayed nice gloss back:

----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (06/06/07): Downpipe and exhaust is made and fitted, 3" all the way with one muffler, hopefully not to loud, we shall see. In the process of ordering braided lines and fittings for the turbo and oil coiler, will look sweet. Only thing left to do is get some silicone joiners and make up the intercooler piping, pics within next couple days hopfully!
Also Ive fibreglassed a lip onto the bottom of the front skirt to equal it up height wise with the sideskirts, only about 40-50mm. Needs a lot of sanding and bogging yet..
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (22/05/07): Just in the driveway on its way to be towed to have the intercooler exhaust etc be made up, pics coming soon when its all done!
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (18/05/07): Hardly an update but brought a tial 38mm wastegate from america, then got offered a Trust 44mm one for $150! Brought it anyway, can flick it on if anything, 44mm probably be to big for this application.
Wont be any updates untill next week or one after, is booked in to get intercooler piping made, external plumbed, exhaust made, amoung other things. Then off for delooming.
Found some banging wheels straight outta UK im trying to suss out, however are very expensive. Paint looks to be july-ish.
Think im going to just scrap in for autosalon in time ; )
----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (12/05/07): Put the engine in today, nothing hooked up as its just in to get the intercooler piping made up etc, pics of todays efforts:

Update (07/05/07): New heavy duty kevlar clutch arrived in today, along with a more heavy duty pressure plate, not cheap, but should never slip which is what I wanted. Intercooler is almost all mounted in place, hopefully finish of the brackets tonight. Pics tomorrow of clutch and 'cooler mounted.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (30/04/07): I got hold of an engine stand so had something to actually do some work to the engine on. I started with mounting up the chromed toyota alternator, heres how it went..
The standard/HD alternator setup

The bracket for the stock alternator

The toyota alternator custom bottom bracket

The toyota alternator mounted up on the custom brackets looking much nicer than the old:

(Also swapped the front radiator pipe on the engine for a chrome peice I had which improved the look as well)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Update (26/04/07): Well did some more work on fitting the intercooler, got it sitting nicer through the front valence and have cut a hole in the front skirt to allow airflow to the intercooler.
Will be mounting the intercooler in there when I get hold of some steel then can properly shape a more accurate hole in the front skirt.
I also mounted the intercooler with outlets up the top rather than bottom (as per update before this one) so that the piping will be shorter.

2nd Update (24/04/07): Just started grinding out the valence panel to make a hole big enough to fit the intercooler in (unfinished):

The intercooler just sitting in the hole roughly where it will go:

Veiw from the front (front skirt will obviously but cut to allow airflow to intercooler):

1st update (17/04/07): Gearbox cross member is all made up to fit the W55 toyota box as below:

And veiw from the inside, through the gearstick hole:

And a pic of the W55 toyota celica/supra box with a dellow bell housing:

New motor info:
The new motor was originally a carby 2L putting out around 100hp at the flywheel. It is now fuel injected with a nice turbo hanging off the side and made 230hp on the dyno with the old setup, hoping for a few more hp out of it once its got the new goodies on and into the car.

The new custom polished intercooler, fuel pump and coil.
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri

The new Garrett T28 Turbo, il probably end up taking the internal gate off and welding it up and going with an external:
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri

Stripping of the interior while everything is happening so nothing gets damaged and everything is accessable:
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri

A custom gearbox cross member is being made up to fit at the moment to accomadate the W55 gearbox.

Looking into clutchs at the moment also, looks to be getting pricey hmm..

Heres the brake setup that im pretty confident il end up running:

Red dot grooved and vented discs:
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri

Wilwood 4 pot Callipers:
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri

Chrome engine peices:
Tuned length turbo headers:
Caprimad's 1972 Ford Capri
Rad. pipe:

Toyota alternator im using:

And a pic of the turbo motor when it was in and in its old state, running a 80's style aftermarket exhaust manifold and a 13b/25g turbo in the picture below when it goes back in the engine bay will be de-loomed, braided lines, painted bay, new parts etc etc:

Hi there. I'm fairly new to this site. I'm loving the community here, so I want to contribute to everyone this article I read that really changed my life financially. Last week I got a check for $900! Really, no joke, I thought I couldn't do it myself, but I did. And it really helped me out my family financially because i'm a stay at home mom. But here's the article I read: http://www.news4show.com/finance/google-hiring-you.html hopefully it works out for you too. Good luck and God bless!
