Hood Clean up

I decided I need to take that old mouldy insoluation off so i took a few picture of the stages of it.

Taken the insolation off and washed on panel to show you how dirty and mouldy it was!

Just typical!! Just as i take the hood off the heavens open!

Piper Stainless Back Box

Took 1 and a half days for me and my dad to weld and fit but was worth it.

First day the original box wouldnt come off as over the years the metal had bonded and decided to give me a hard time!! that took bout three quarters of a day to try and find different ways of getting it off. In the end i used loads of oil and pulled it up and down till it freed itself.

Then the half a day my dad re-welded the bracket ( Piper make them slightly to small ) and then bolt on the system! PHEW!

Engine + body

Engine + body wise its a MFI engine, 8 valve, 1.6i, quite nippy as ive stripped out the boot now and weights a lot less,the only mod to the engine is a drilled air box ( becasue its MFI i can't bolt on a K&N cone :( but can get uprated panels :P ), i have dropped it 25mm on a PI full spring kit ( complete replacemt of all the suspension ,brings out a bit of rally feel to the ride :) and ive placed some sparco + firestone decals on there too as i am thinking of getting some more sparco bits!!! :P I have also got clear front indicators + clear side repeaters plus a RS spoiler. The front mounted spot lights are also add-ons but i always thought that ford should of brought the orions out with spot lights anyway!

Interior wise i have some custom tailored floor mats and a sparco gear shifter plus a sony head as well as Kenwood speakers all round ( front + rear ) watts unknown as they were in the orion when it was bought back in 1998 by my brother.

Richbrook red leather gear + handbrake gaitors �15 approx

Richbrook leather steering wheel �70 approx

sparco pedal set (mabey red but most likey silver) �20 (DONE)

2 capillay guages by TIM ( oil pressure + volt or water temp )�40 for the 2 gauges + pods

BODY

Rs turbo Bonnet with vents included �40

RIMS

A new set of 14",TSW stealth for �50++ for 4 without tyres because ill just use the firestones i have on it already :P

Now thats done i still would like to do:

New gearbox ( still have the original 17 year old one in there so i think it needs a fresh one �350 (Guessing) :)

B&M short shift from burton power.com roughly about �20.

So thats a LIVE TOTAL OF:: �635 Aproxxx!

But i might do some bits and mabey not some bits ill just have to see how it all pans out! The totals of worse case!!)
Im a detailer in my spare time so ive completely freshened up everything you can think of on the car ( too much to list! )
I'll probs get more stuff but ill start off with that list and see how i get on. Its quite hard to get to work on it as im at college but motors are MY LIFE so i dedicate some of my free time to it, i love working on it so its not really working more like play :P :) .... Just to say that i admire those people out there re-building, restoring and loving of having a classic orion as more and more people are giving these cars away for next to nothing and in the future wishing they hadent because its becoming a fast growing classic car and are getting rarer and rarer every day no thanks to scrap yards and Rust! lolol.
So to all the classic orion owners ! Keep it up !
