*****UPDATE**** Got t-boned by some lady doing 35.
Damaged the drivers side enough to where the car was a write off. System was completed and I'll post pics sometime. Bought a 2000 S10 which will soon have a bangin' system in it. Pics to come.
Here's the car, a 1998 Mercury Sable GS:
The gear I'll be putting in:
-(2) JL Audio 12W3v2 Dual 2 ohm subwoofers
-Phoenix Gold amps. 1500 watt monoblock and 500 watt 2 channel amplifier.
-Pioneer Premier DEH-P860MP
-Boston Acoustics RC620 6.5" Components up front----NO rear fill!
--All wiring was done with Streetwires, Stinger, and Orion.
-A couple 4'x8' sheets of 1/2" and 3/4" MDF
-All the Carpet and hardware from www.partsexpress.com--I highly recommend this place, they have EVERYTHING at great prices!
For the amps and subs, 10-24 machine screws were used in conjunction with "T-nuts" to secure it all down. The nuts act as hole-savers so that you don't chew up the wood with regular coarse-thread mounting screws.
Also, stainless steel lag bolts were used to bolt the box down and create a low-resistance grounding point for the amps and accessories.
The first thing to do was gut the car and clean it all up with soap and water:
You can see the power and remote wire running down the center. I chose to route the power wire through an unused grommet hole which was in the center of the car. Perfect!
The RCA's run down the passeneger side of the car. They were taped down with duct tape temporarily to keep them in the correct location and then wire ties and labeled heat-shrink were used to protect them.
