Yo, this is my 240. Any and all damage on it came with it. The bodies ok, it has it's assortment of dings here and there, the rocker pannels are rotted away on the rear of it and underneith. One door and one fender aren't shiny, it looks primered, but its not, just dull paint. I hate driving around with a car looking like that, it'll get a quick Maaco for the time being.
It had 159k miles on it and I got it for $1,100 on April 3, 2007. This is my daily driver and long term project. I have many ideas for her, and will most likely keep changing my mind till I have enough money to do the expensive stuff. Here's what I'm planning, the car will be raced in both drag, drift and cicuit racing. Daily driver and race car? Damn right, I know a lot of people disagree with that and I know I'll have to make some sacrafices, but it's what I want.
I plan on working this whole car out and fix things as they go. When something breaks it only becomes better. My plans currently (4/2/08 my plans change a lot lol) is to have this baby KA-T by next year sometime. I'm leaving the SOHC in there and just ride it till she dies. Once I go through with the turbo I want to start building a turbo DOHC on the side, so once my SOHC goes, I'm all set. I'm having a hard time deciding what major thing to do next: Rims or body work (One thing I'm 100% sure on is that I will replace 80% of the exterior with carbon fiber. Stupid, expensive and risky...but it looks to god damn sexy not to do.). The body work if I do get it will just to make the car the same shade of black and fix the rocker pannel rust. Rims...well their self explanatory, but again I'll be doing a 5-lug conversion in the future for the Z32 brakes. But between those two big decisions, I'll be working my suspension more, planning on getting a LSD and do something about my sound system. It's ok, but not up to my standard. So stay tuned, she's a always changing...
When I got the car it had a "few" things wrong, lol. A bent rim, bad tires, the wrong springs (the car was riding on the struts, never seen springs that small on a car...ever, looked like those $20 ebay coilover kits), the wrong battery (it was to small and sitting on two 2x4's to reach the tie down...), a bad rear wiper motor, the ignition switch is iffy (hasn't done it in awhile *knock on wood*), needed the timing chain/guides/tensioner done, a/c doesn't work, a leak in the right tail light, rear hatch weatherstrip was leaking, the rear strut interior pannels and tail light cover is gone, speakers gotta be replaced (they work at lower levels, but crackle when you turn em up a little) and the rear seats were removed because the kid was sanding it down, which it still needs a little of, the ignition timing was off a little and the exhaust was rusted to hell. It broke right after the cat, a few months after I got the car, had to get it welded. Once my new exhaust came, I had to cut the weld, but the new exhaust didn't sit flush against the cat. That was remedied with a 3 inch test pipe. The head unit also died sometime around Sept.
Most of those things above are taken care of except the wiper motor, ignition switch and the speakers.
Things done so far:
-K&N Drop in filter
-3" Cat back w/resonator
-3" Test pipe
-Unorthadox Aluminum Underdrive Crank Pulley
-KYB GR-2 Struts w/Tein S-Tech Springs
-Tein Adjustable Pillow Ball Tension Rods
-Full engine, trans, rear end tune up (Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, new belts, new coolant, thermostat and housing, drain and fill both trans and diff)
-New timing chain (Yes the whole job, the engine is also perfectly timed now, I did the whole engine tune up at one shot as well, seemed like a good way to spend my vacation.)
-New tires Westlake H600 205/60R15 (cheap ones until I get rims)
-Removed the entire A/C system (Everything except whats in the dash, no need to go there...yet).
-Removed exhaust manifold heat shield
-Sleepy Eye mod
-Nismo Leather Shift Knob
-New Pioneer Head Unit (Not sure of the model at the moment)
-Bazooka Tri-Vent Sub
-Kicker 200.2 Amp

The passenger side isn't AS far gone, but it looks pretty much the same.
Before
/After
4/7 - Put the stock springs in, rides much better, but got a nasty shimmy now, prolly the tires or a bent rim.
4/11 - Put new tires on my car and found one rim bent, thank god the kid gave me a full sized tire that came with the car when he bought it, which was flat. Car rides FINE now.
4/16 - Adjusted the ignition timing, runs smoother now and idles better (Around 750 - 850 rpm, compared to 900 - 1,000 rpm. Spec is 750 rpm at idle)
4/17 - I finally got the sleepy eye's all wired up (the two switches below radio and the 4 thin red wires under the hood). Took a little planning but finally got it, deffinitly worth the time and little bit of money.
4/19 - Took out 75% of a/c (Left the condensor, reciever and a few lines that I couldnt get out. To remove them I gotta pull the radiator, it'll come out when I do my timing chain)
4/20 - Removed the exhaust manifold heat shield
4/21 - Sanded and paint the stock rims black, now their not rusted and disgusting. Now their black and disgusting :) (I'll have picks up soon)
5/6 - Went down to Barnegat (Which might get burned up in a forest fire) to get the seatbelts, I have them installed but no pics, kid said he 'lost' the remote, and never had any tail light pannel...fuck it.
5/11 - My exhaust broke from from the exhaust flage coming off the cat. Fun 45 min ride home with nothing but cat no-back. It's welded back on for now, I'm getting the new exhaust within the next two weeks.
5/17 - Day before my birthday and my exhaust has been hanging since like mon or tues, spun the tires leaving work, it knocked it loose. Going to mufflers shop in morning for a fix it weld, dude fucked up my ebay order and now I gotta wait possibly 2 - 4 weeks for a refund, fun. But I took off those pedal covers the old owner had, they sucked (Not to mention my foot slipped off the clutch when the pedal was wet and I missed a gear), it feels much better without.
5/18 - $70 god damn dollars for a fix it weld. Some Happy Birthday huh? lol. Atleast I got my present to myself, my shift knob came on Fri instead of Mon, not bad. I never knew how heavy the stock knob was compared to the Nismo one. It's like comparing Jessica Alba to Rosie O'Donnel.
5/24 - Maybe I'll clean my car today and finally put new pictues up. The old one's don't have the painted rims, shift knob, stock pedals or the rear seat belts in em. We'll see how tired I am when I get off work. *Instead I gave a second shot at my sub/amp...and got it*
5/26 - Washed, clay bar and waxed my car today. Clay bar = Amazing difference. For anyone out there who hasn't done it, do it. Plus I took pics, I should be getting my exhaust soon.
5/30 - Got my exhaust yesterday, put it on today, not bad for an Ebay exhaust :) Woulda fit perfect, but a little bead was left from when the guy welded my exhaust so it leaks a little at the top of the flange, I'll get a high flow cat soon to stop that.
10/5 - It's been a long ass time since I've been onto car domain, got tons of shit done. Lets start the list - Full tune up, replaced the timing chain, water pump, thermostat, belts coolant, removed the a/c condenser, flushed and fill the trans and diff, Unorthadox Aluminum Underdrive Pulley, springs/struts (KYB-GR2 Struts w/Tein S-Tech Springs), new head unit. I'm ordering the test pipe tonight. I'm curious to see how the cops react. Amazingly I don't have pics of the drop yet, but they'll come soon.
1/15/08 - Once again been awhile and still no pics, I'm lazy. Anyway got rid of those steelies and picked up a set of SE Teardrop rims (The alloys from 89-90 SE). Ordered a drift knob tonight, should help.
4/2 - Just about reaching my one year anniversery :) Not much has been done since the last 'blog' except the Tein Tension Rods and new lower control arms/ball joints. Hit some black ice in a drive through and put me on a curb, bent one control arm and snapped the tension rod, fun. But as usual it's fixed and better. I might be takin pics soon, like you haven't heard that before.
