_______________BEFORE___________________________________AFTER________________

This is my ultimate track car. It's totally prepped for NASA's Performance Touring D class. It's been thoroughly stripped and lightened.

SE-R_Jon's 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-RSE-R_Jon's 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R

It's been fully caged and braced by the brilliant Eric Sutton of Sutton Motorsports located at Buttonwillow Raceway. This cage was done with maximum strength & minimum weight in mind. This also includes incorporated front and rear shock tower bracing and braces on the A and B pillars. The end result is a very stiff car with excellent protection.

It utilizes Bits & Pieces Koni coilover suspension kit with Ground Control Adjustable camber plates and Progressive adjustable swaybars. Notice the cool red powdercoat on all the control arms, swaybars and the tower struts done by Xtreme Powdercoating in Palmdale. I did this for looks but also to make any leaks quickly noticable. While I was at it I replaced all the bushings with Energy Suspension urethane bushings.

It's running 205 Toyo RA-1s on 15x7 ICW rims that my buddy Gary from Affordable Tire in Palmdale hooked me up with. For stopping we've got the Fastbrakes 11inch brake kit w/Wilwood 4 piston calipers, Hawk Blue pads and stainless steel brakelines. I have to thank Tom Paule for pointing me in the right direction to get all of this stuff together.

Motorwise this thing is done up!!! The SR20DE has been just built by Ed from R&E racing in Lancaster. Inside you'll find Nissan 86mm 11.5:1 pistons from the SR16, Jim Wolf S5 cams, fully balanced rotating assembly, ported and polished head. Check out the amount of actual valve lift these cams produce!!!

It's now getting a set of full race valve springs to up the rpm range from 7500 to 8000. I'm currently working on uping the oiling system with an Accusump, oil cooler and remote oil filter setup. Also notice the Unorthodox pullies and lack of power steering pump. We don't need no stinkin' power steering!!! But we do need plenty of WD40 to keep the whole car nice and lubed up...

SE-R_Jon's 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-RSE-R_Jon's 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R

A prototype header/collector system built by Darren at Prowlers in Santa Clarita leads into a Burns stainless steel 3"x17" muffler. This header/collector really lets the motor breath deep. This design was done to keep the collector out of harms way. The Kojima design makes the expensive collector the lowest part of the car. We figured we had enough room between the motor and the radiator to "bed of snakes" the 20" primaries and keep the stainless collector "safe" from hazards. Other than the collector the system is made of mild steel tubing to keep the cost down. We may do a full stainless one when we are completely happy with the design. The rest of the system is pre-bent 3" pipe so there are no restrictions. It exits in front of the passenger rear wheel.

I'm working on an intake/fuel injection system next to get everything this motors got. I'll be using the Redline/Weber DCOE 48 dual thottle bodies on a custom manifold. This in conjuntion with their 442 ECU Management system.

But for now on the intake side there's a Jim Wolf Pop Charger on the end of a prototype intake setup. The ECU is a Jim Wolf remap specifically for the S5s and the compression, thanks Ben. To keep things cool we've got a Koyo aluminum radiator. Next thing to do here is build a cowling around the radiator to maximize the air flow through put.

To get it all to the ground there's a Jim Wolf aluminum flywheel and heavy duty JWT clutch and pressure plate. This is followed by the late model JDM tranny I got from Greg Vogal at G-Spec Performance. The tranny being operated by the B&M short shifter mechanism.

On the inside we've got a Cobra race seat, Momo steering wheel mounted to a Sweet engineering quick release. The car/driver is also protected with a 5lb fire system mounted behind the driver in front of the rear mount battery. To keep track of all that's going on there's an AIM MXL Pista digital dash/data logger. It's currently watching oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, voltage, rpm, speed, lap time, session times.

This car has been mostly done at home diy style. I don't know when this thing will ever be finished but I'm working on it all the time. Eventually it'll see paint and aero but until I've got all the mechanical done it'll have to do. I'm really hoping with this new motor all those vettes and beamers won't have to be blue flagged anymore.

SE-R_Jon's 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-RSE-R_Jon's 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R

The lightening has been tough but includes a 6lb carbon fibre hood and 2lb cf sunroof plug not to mention the completely gutted doors. The doors are now like paper and that's with the center reinforcement piece.

Can't wait to dyno and get it weighed. Should be roughly 2100lb with roughly 200whp.
See you guys at the track!!!

UPDATE!!!
Got to take it out friday for testing!!! HOLY CRAP is this thing torquey!!! I had to reset all of my suspension to handle the power. This thing is definetly FAST!!! I've got lots of other tuning still to do but when it's done it'll be amazing. As it is I was out abusing a couple of Nascar trucks that had way more power than me. I was also hangin with a pretty trick 3 series BMW. All I can say is that this thing is sweet!!!!

Great Build Jon! I'm hoping my NA build will be just as good!

Nice build. The header is a little too much for me on the design, something I would expect in a cramped space for a turbo setup, but not an N/A. Other than that, i love it
