Overview

This is my '85 Nissan 300ZX Turbo. I bought the car for $300! At the time, it didn't run. Since then, I have replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, MAFS, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing belt, water pump, serpentine belts, and timing tensioner. Now it runs and runs well! Half of those parts I had already in a parts car and so they were free. Total, I have sunk $2400 into it as it sits. Not bad, eh?

Here are some quick before pics to give you perspective.

The next pics are the current pics. remember, I have $2400 into the car TOTAL. That even includes an oil change!

All I did to achieve that shine is I buffed it and waxed it. Pretty amazing considering that paint sat in the sun for 7 YEARS with no protection!

Here are the super rare JDM Rikin wheels I installed. They were free because they came off the parts car! I did have to put a significant amount of elbow grease into painting, cleaning, polishing, etc to make them look this good...

After:

The other two cars in the background are my first car, an '89 300zx (also has a cardomain if you want to see more...), and someone else's '85 RX-7.

I bought the car from a mechanic who possessed the car after a customer never paid. It sat without running outside his small shop for 7 years! Finally, he decided he just wanted it gone. Since he couldn't get it to start, he sold it for only 300 dollars. I got it to run for a few seconds on starting fluid and decided to buy it. I had to replace the fuel pump to make it run. And since it sat for so long, the fuel tank had rusted into almost nothing. I used a parts car to replace it all.

I also replaced the spark plugs and wires with performance parts. It has NGK V-Power plugs and ACCEL universal wires.

Soon to replace/mod list:

1) Windshield
2) All 4 brakes (may convert to '86-'89 setup)
3) *installed* New timing and serpentine belt
4) *installed* New tires and wheels (I own a set of 2-piece racing wheels)
5) Flowmaster or Aero Turbine 3" exhaust
6) Racing seats (picked up a set of two for $100 off a buddy)
7) Tokico Illumina struts and springs
8) BOV (Turbo XS RF-L I bought used)
9) Boost controller (Turbo XS High Performance bought used)
10) Snow Performance Water Methanol Injection
11) Larger injectors
12) Grant racing wheel
13) Manual Transmission (Parts car... should be done soon!)
14) MSA flywheel
15) MSA roll bar
16) MSA Anti-sway bars
17) MSA Strut tower braces
18) Much, much more!

And a Pic of my poor old parts car...
