Construction Phase
The frame was sanded then coated with West Marine's Rust-Lock before priming with 2 coats of Pettit's Rustlock Steel Primer. These products are designed for salt-water environments and Wisconsin has lots of road salt in the winter. Both products are available at - West Marine.

Finally, the frame has 2 coats of Herculiner. It shows dirt but is tough.

The firewall with VIN is all that remains of the body.

Body work begins. Treated 3/4" plywood and lumber will be screwed and glued with Marine Goop, a product recommended to me by 3M's technical support, then encapsulated in epoxy. This method is used for racing boats. The top of one of the new Skyjacker shocks is also visible.

First coat of Gluvit, a flexible marine epoxy resin waterproof to 4000 psi. I have used both Marine Goop and Gluvit on several boats and am extremely satisfied with them. They are available at West Marine.

After 2 coats of Gluvit, 2 coats of Heculiner were applied.

The old sides were used as a template. People in rural Wisconsin have to wear orange during deer hunting season so they don't get shot.

The plywood template is ready for fitting. Notice one of my finished project boats in the background. I will include some pictures of its construction on a separate page after all of the Jeep pictures are uploaded. My main boat is a 31'6" Sea Ray Weekender with an 11' beam.

The back floor section with integrated fender wells is ready for 2 coats of Gluvit then 2 coats of Herculiner.

Holy crap! I saw the wood thinking it was just a template then as I scroll further it was actually utilized. Turned out nice. Especially compared to the original photos. Brilliant job. 5 stars man, all 5 earned here. Check my little cj out when ya can. Keep it up.

HEY! Nice resto mod, if you didnt show us, all fab up out of wood, i would of never thought, sweeet job ! 5***** and a nice western plow! we have been having the same weather here, i guess were in the same weather belt, checkout my XJcoupe sometime, anythings possible with a Jeep, cheers happy newyear
