This is my ATX (automatic transaxle) to MTX (manual transaxle) conversion page. this job is not going to be as big as i first thought. I have all the parts i need for the swap, and from what i hear, obtaining the right parts is the hardest thing.
Here is a list of what you will need to do that swap:
everything you will need:
-the transmission (obviously)
-Right and left axle from the manual donor, as well as the half-shaft on the passenger side
-shifter linkages, as well as the shifter itself (both static and pivoting linkage)
-the motor mount number 4 (which is the one that is attached to the transmission on the drivers side on top of the gearbox, its different for the MTX)
-slave cylinder, you will not need a master cylinder
-clutch petal, or the brake and clutch petal already on the assembly, which might be easier
-a manual tranny flywheel
-clutch kit (clutch disk, pressure plate, throw out and pilot bearing)
-a starter that will fit the new manual.
-you will NOT need a new ECU.
-SAVE the huge wiring harness that came off the automatic, you will need to rewire it at the end of the swap to work with the new manual.
If you know where to look, or have the know-how, this swap can be done for about 700 dollars, mine cost me about 900, because i bought a fair amount of new things as well.
First I had to pull out the battery, intake box, as well as a few vaccum hoses to expose the automatic:
Next, I removed the automatic shifter, this was pretty straight-forward:
Here's my manual tranny (also included is everything else needed for the swap; linkages, axles, slave cylinder, mounts, ect.):
After that, i took out the driver seat so I could lay on my back and remove the old automatic brake pedal and assembly (this was a bear!) I had to remove the middle joint on the steering column to pull it out, and there were a few plugs and sensors that needed to be disconnected:
Then Putting on the new clutch and smaller brake petal assembly, this was easy in a sense that there were no hidden suprises, but getting the bolts to line up was tough:
After that, i had the adequate bolt ups for the slave cylinder provided by the petal assembly, which i took the libery of installing (after removing the gold plate that stood in its place). the master cylinder was already present, and there was simply a rubber plug in the fluid case that the slave cylinder's line attaches too:

Here comes the last part, removing the axles and tranny, these are the only two major things i have left. first i removed the main nut on the spindle assembly (this was the biggest obsticle i have ever encountered, i couldn't torque it off, and nothing worked not even impact wrenches, so i ended up dremeling it off).

after that, i removed a few nuts on the suspension and armatures, to free the spindle assembly, the axles came off pretty easly.

Now i just loosened the mounting bolts for the tranny, as well as the mounts that attached to the car, and was able to pull the AT out from undernieth:

Here's my auto (right) next to the manual (left) along with my new clutch set:
Now time for reassembly!
I started with installing a new flywheel because the automatic was different than the manual, since no bolts existed to bolt up the pressure plate, and the old bolts for the automatic flywheel were too short, we had to get all new ones which was a big PITA. heres my new clutch assembly after installing it:

Then I hoisted up the new manual tranny into place and began all the bolts that were required and added the new number four mount:

After that, I put into place the shifter linkages: they were a bear to get in, the best way I would reccomend this would be to tackle it from the passenger seat. at first it appeared the exhaust assembly might get in the way, but it fit perfectly:

Unfortunatly, I didn't keep up to date on Pictures, But after reassebling everything, including hooking up the starter, intake assembly and everythin else that was taken out. the last thing to do, was wiring, i have to hook up the reverse sensor, by splicing it into the huge wiring harness, that and the I had to bypass the park - nutural switch, which plugged into the automatic, shown here. THIS BYPASS IS REQUIRED TO EVEN START THE CAR:

This is after i reeassembled the eintire engine, i still have a few minor things i need to get around to before the tires go back on:

I'm almost done!
