This Capri has been in the family for 17 years. Dad handed it down to me for a graduation (High School) gift. I didn't need it as a daily driver since I have my trusty Merkur Scorpio, so I yanked out his 302 engine, gave it to my little sister as a temporary engine (she also drives a trusty Merkur Scorpio), and built my own engine from the block up. I built my 302 to specs that should yield better than 400 hp on pump gas! As it turns out, 391 hp is the best I could squeeze from my motor so far. That is pretty close to target but a little disappointing since I had hoped to exceed expectations.
My sister got her license in 2006 and has been an avid motorhead ever since. She had an ugly Capri she ran on the track in '06, and since it proved to be a consistent runner, she painted it up. Turns out she is very good at painting also. I threw in a couple of her car pics also since she has no interest in having her own Cardomain page.
*UPDATE: Not much new to add except I am through hammering this car on the race track. It has held up very well these past three years, but I want it to be around for a long time in streetable condition.
Mikki's car on the other hand was junkyard material from the outset. We are currently building a stroked 501 (385 based) motor for it with a C6. It seems no amount is too much when it comes to horsepower and torque!
I hope to post an update on that project before next summer.
Be sure to check out my CUSTOM MERKUR SCORPIO too!
My new medium rise intake forced me to add a hood scoop (very recent pic showing Red's current condition)
Interior in very nice condition. Needs minor tweaking
A local machine shop did some excellent work on my engine block. Tolerances are so close I don't need no stinking piston rings. But I'll install some just in case...
My vanity plate is not meant as a challenge, but it is quite clever. Few people get it right away. Each letter must be pronounced separately.
Ohhh she sounds sooo good! Somewhat lopey idle, you can hear each cylinder fire in turn.
My sister drag raced my car with my old engine before deciding she would like to have the motor for her car
You've seen my Scorpio. These are my sister's cars -Capri & Scorpio
Yeah. This is work done by a 17-year-old. Not professional quality, but very nice. She documented the works progress, and you can see how she does it by clicking Capripics
