madolive3's 1977 Datsun 280ZThis is my Datson. 77 280Z. I found this car sitting in the original owner's driveway. It had not moved for ten years and I offered the owner a "few bucks" for it and he told me that If I removed it from his driveway I could have it. So I towed it home and the fun began.

Some of the Upgrades I've done so far. Complete replacement of the suspension bushings to Poly. Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable struts and Illumina lowering Springs. Suspension Techniques sway bars front and rear. Turbo from an 83 ZXT and a dizzy and ignition from an 81ZX. Custom 2.5 inch down pipe with a mandrell bent 2.5 inch exhaust. New paint color matched to the original 411 Datson paint code. Complete replacement of all the window and door rubber. I replaced the big 77 crash bumpers with the smaller and better looking IMHO, bumpers from a 73 240Z. The car has not been to a body shop or a garage, my 4 year old daughter and I have performed all of the work done to restore this car.

madolive3's 1977 Datsun 280ZWhen I aquired this car it was dead. This is the first time I've ever attempted to restore/rebuild a car.
These are the after pictures. The following pages contain the before pics as well as all the pics of the work as I progressed thru this project. Projected completion date? who knows.madolive3's 1977 Datsun 280Z

William,
Great looking work! I am very interested in the bumper conversion that you did. If there is any way you could send me some info on it I would greatly appreciate it! Looks like you're almost ready for paint... Those graphics on the original paint job reflect some history of life and times of the 70's. These cars were a disco-dream! Please visit and sign my g-book!

Oh ya, MSA and Black Dragon have been friends of mine for a while now. I'm gonna be ordering a new inner shift boot from Black Dragon soon. If I end up getting the turbo engine, I'll probably replace my clock with a boost guage. Your car looks like its coming along well. I don't think i'll ever have the time, funds, or patience for a resto on my car, so i'm just trying to keep it looking decent and running. Good luck with your project.
