I have had this car for 7 years. It is a replica Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino built in 1976 in the same place and about the same time as the 1000 Ford commissioned. Since I have owned it, I have put in a brand new 351; had the transmission completely rebuit; had all four quarters replaced (the front two NOS); replaced the clip; added NOS chrome mirrors and two new bumpers and a brand new paint job.

In this series you get a look at what the car looked like as body work started. Also, that's the Jasper Engines 351 I had put into it. As you can see, this is when they closed off the opera window and when it was in the paint booth about to get painted. Notice my stripe is an inch higher on the molding. Also, it's thinner across the top than what Ford did.

After talking to Movie Mike, the man who built the two Hero cars for the Ben Stiller/ Owen Wislon movie Starsky and Hutch, I went with the color scheme he used in the film. My car is painted Viper Red and the white stripe is pure toner. When I gave my bodyshop the codes, they came back and told me there had to be a mistake, that the code for the white was toner. I wrote Mike and he explained that indeed that was the case, because he wanted that car to leap off the screen. So I called the shop and told them and they sort of laughed and, well, there it is. I can tell you this, it's not a problem to find in a crowded parking lot for sure!!

nice ride. big fan of those S&H Torino's...I allmost bought one back in 1979 in clinton iowa. It had the 460 in it. But instead I bought my 79 cobra 5.0L Mustang. I love my stang, but still hope to add a Torino to my collection someday.

Excellent Torino! Do you ever take it to local shows? I have never seen it around, but would love to see it! That was one of my favorite shows growing up! Awsome!
