My Daimler

Well here we go then. I bought my Daimler for £900 last august, knowing she needed some tlc, but was a little special. She's a 1988 Daimler XJ40, with a 3.6 litre 24 valve straight six thats good for around 221bhp, or she was 18 years ago anyway!

I'm the second owner of the car, the guy who had it before me had her from new, and it was a limousine, it still has a flag holder on the bonnet. She's also only covered 69,000 miles.

What she did need desperately was sills, as at some point some idiot had fitted mudflaps with a rivet gun, and the arches had deteriorated around this point.

I'd never done anything mechanical before, so I've learnt a lot so far, and it's great fun.

I basically stripped the car back, removed everything to give me access to the sill, and set away cutting it out and replacing.
