 ****NEW PICS ON PAGE 4 & 5****

***My Dad just bought a really nice 1979 Camaro Z28. Pics on page 5***

**I work for a carpet cleaning company and they also do couches and car interiors. While I was installing the new carpet, I had my seats steam cleaned. They look brand new! And it was for FREE! If anyone has a cloth interior that has stains, I suggest getting them steam cleaned before replacing them.**

*Please comment in my guestbook. I am always looking for suggestions and ideas, or just let me know what you think*

*Some cool news, i was a senior in Monson High last year and I won Class Hot Rod for senior suprilatives, just like my Dad did back in 1979 in Monson High with his '73 Camaro*

Since I was about 10 years old, my dream car was a camaro. Everywhere I went, if there were magazines for sale, i would be at the magazines searching for anything that had to do with camaros, and if I found one, I always begged my Dad to let me buy it. About a year before I got my license, I began asking my Dad consistently if he had bought me a Camaro yet. I come from a middle class, working family, so I by no means ever expected to actually get a camaro for my first car. One day I asked him, "so dad, did you buy me a camaro yet?" Usually the answer is no, but instead he pulled a set of keys out of his pocket. I thought for sure he was just being a smart ass and they were just his work keys or something. He threw me the keys from across the kitchen and sure enough, there was a little tag on them that said camaro. I couldnt believe it. He told me that it wasnt in perfect condition and it needed a little work. He told me a little about the car and then told me he paid $200 for it. About a week later my mom and I went to go and look at the car for the first time. I wasnt expecting much being it has cost only $200. This is what I saw.

Christine is born

It was in decent condition, all it needed was a transmission, rims, and tires. We got it towed up to my house and once we got it off the trailer we decided to start it up. It had a idleing problem (the throttle stuck) so we popped the hood and i climbed in and started it. My Dad leaned under the hood to fix the high idle, by that time i had already gotten out of the car from starting it. Just before my Dad fixed the high idle the car dropped itself out of park and into drive, and took off at about 4000rpm right through the woods heading for the neighbors house, bouncing off tree after tree. My mom was next to me screaming bloody murder, "NOT THE NEIGHBORS HOUSE!" My dad, my brother, and my brothers friend took off after it. Finally the last tree before the neighbors house stopped the car. Stuck against the tree, with the throttle still pinned, it dug itself into the ground. The drivers side door was right up against a tree and the passengers door was stuck closed. So there is sat, digging two holes in the ground. My brother pryed the passengers door open and shut the car off. The bumper, drivers side door and fender were completely smashed in, the centre link and tie rods were bent, the exhausts were folded up under the car, etc.

Whenever anybody would go near the car, other than me, that person would get hurt some way or another. It was like the car was possessed. Thus the name Christine.
Its been two years, a lot of work, and about $3000-$4000 but it is on the road.

Mods Include: It has a 1970 350 Engine with 4 barrel carb, Traction Bars, Subframe Connectors, new dual exhausts, headers, new TH350 transmission with shift kit, Hurst Ratchet Shifter, 10 bolt posi traction,Chrome valve covers, aircleaner (K&N), Cragar SS Wheels, Air Shocks, new tail lights, new carpet, new cd player, completely new steering parts, new spark plug wires, rotor and distributor, and other misc parts.

Future Mods: Engine Swap, front spoiler and stone guards, tinted windows, new interior, new rims (american racing) , 3" or 4"cowl hood, exhaust cut outs

Just after paint. We did this paint job in my garage for $200, including the cost of the spray gun. All that is left is rear tail lenses because the ones on there are all cracked.

-Rebuild-

We had to replace the clips on the T-Tops because they leaked.

There is one pic of the damage to the rear quarter. We didnt replace it, we just did some old fashioned body work.

This is the engine before we de-greased it or anything.
