This page shows the HIFI-Project
A Stealth-installation I do together with my new installer, an "EMMA Head Judge"
The whole system will be invisible, with no loss of trunk space and highend sound.
Alpine 9887R, Hertz Speakers, 8" Atomic Woofers, Genesis amps, additional battery,...
As usual, I will post updates on top of the page !!
Now on with the pix:
------------------------------------------ Step 11 - Woofer ------------------------------------------
Update:
Yesterday, we did it again.
Due to the fact that I finally decided to install a subwoofer in the same way the rest of the ICE-installation was planned, (totally stealth, 99% OEM look, nothing to see at all but lots of dynamic music to hear), the setup had to be modified.
First, lemme show you a pic of the new battery installed.
This Powercell 2050 was painted flat black, the oem battery holder had to be modified in order to fit it.
I love that overall clean look.
Furthermore, we already installed the AINet Adapter from Alpine to be able to easily plug in the meassure-equipment of my installer without the need to put out the radio which is definitely a pain in the ass.
Allright, here we go.
Removing the drivers seat
afterwards same with the panels
stripped:
ultra rare OEM JDM bling bling TAKATA harness, bitch
cable
wrapped in Snakeskin
done:
same for the woofer cable
The twin of the already installed Genesis Profile four, sitting under the passengers seat,
the Genesis Profile SUB
Until the final stage with a completely new built wooferbox, i use my testbox, I got for cheap from a fellow s2k driver.
The fuse hub underneath the dashboard had to be extended as well.
heat shrink tube... absolutely invisible but easily reachable
The cables had to be pulled to the drivers side.. what a pain...
done
only the amp is missing:
woofer cable pulled to the trunk
One 12" pizza later:
As you might have realized in my thread the seat had to be modified in order to fit the amp underneath. Here's the secret routine...
Of course there's nothing unusal that could be realized when sitting on the modified seat.
;-)
Now we cut the carpet and fitted the amp
Pull out the cable and plug them in...
et voilà
At half past 3am the first deep frequencies came out of the system.
A couple of tuning-touches to the EQ and Crossover and wooow, the sound is unbelievable.
Seems like the bass comes out of the doorpanels allthough the box sits behind the driver in the sparetire compartment.
------------------------------------------ Step 10 - Fresh ENERGY ------------------------------------------
We installed the new battery finally.
Powercell 2050
56 Ah, that means 2 hours music (my setup) w/o needing to start the engine!!
That's what you get:
Can't believe, alot of guys put it in their cars as it is.
Well, not me...
Of course, since I don't want anything that doesn't exactly look like oem, I decided to paint the highend battery in flat black as if it were an oem one.
much better, isn't it...
Stealth OEM look FTWFW.
-------------------------------- Step 9 - Mission: SHUT THE F*** UP
------------------------------------
While driving around the town, we realized several annoying noises that narrow down the driving fun alot. So we decided to figure out a way to get rid of them.

Analyzing the trunk since most of the noise seems to come from there.
stripping down...
I love Standartplast
Since there will be a woofer soon, I think this has been a nice preparation for that as well.
The harness rattled uncontrolled inside the trunk lid, so we put some foam around it to ensure there's no noise from it any longer.
Next, we decided to cover all panels with self-adhesive felt to reduce vibration-noises of those panels rubbing against eachother.
This is what it looks like:
Of course, nothing is visible at all.
After 6 hours, we had a look on the A-pillar since alot of noise came from here as well.
The harness for the interior light is attached very lax inside so it can rattle alot.
The inside of the a-pillar panel has several spots where it rubs against the bodywork resulting in rattling noises.
Well, not anymore.
-------------------------------------- Step 8 - Silencing the door panels ------------------------------------
put some alubutyl onto the backside of the doorpanels
painted the adapter rings with resin in order to avoid wetness getting into the wood.

while the adpters were drying, we had some time to have a look on the amp again.
So ripped out the passenger seat again
First we fixed it to the floor
We decided to readjust the ring that holds the grill in order to avoid rattling noise
and we finally installed the missing crimp connectors.
looks fine now:
covered all cables with foam
same for the tweeter cables that were slightly visible behind the doorpanels so far.
Now, they aren't. ;-)
Lastly we extended the ground wiring and added a cable with the same diameter as the powercable:
I urgently need a new battery tie down.
----------------------------------- Step 7 - Covered the tweeter housings ---------------------------------

Tweeter housings are now covered with bielastical leather from BMW and match the rest now perfectly.
-------------------------------------- Step 6 - First amp installed --------------------------------------
Again, we ripped off the doorpanels to install the cables.
of course, we added everything to the oem harness:
again the completed harness
At the same time, we needed to figure out how to put the Genesis amp underneath the passenger seat. Allthough they are extremely flat and compact, the creased floor upset our plans.:-/
Even after removing all unnecessary decoration (see below) it only fitted hardly.
So we decided to cut the carpet and wrap the piece into another position. Furthermore we "optimized" the underside of the seat...
The speaker cables were prepared and placed in position. Ready to be connected to the amp.
Again, the clock showed 3am. :e
Now let's come to the longest night, so far.
Stripped again, removed passenger seat, headunit, panels (can do that blindfolded at the meanwile :D....)
Our pensum for this eve: Wiring the amp and hide it underneath the passenger seat, install battery terminals and fuse-hub, RCA-, Power- and Grounding cables. Hella lot of work...
The components:
Strong enough:
Snake-Skin for the power cables.:-)
The Genesis Profile 4 amp
Removed the decorative ring since it disturbed the slider
Again, the Hertz speakers needed to be removed from their custom housings, now the "real" cables wanted to be plugged in.
Putting in the tiny, delicate snakeskin-wrapped Boa-Constrictor :D
"Regarding the fuse hub, we'll try to find an invisible place under the dashboard"...
HAHA, easier said than done...
A problem shared is a problem halved.
looks comfortable but, believe me, it isn't :-/
Done:
Close to 3am the whole car still looked like a ruin...
So we decided to get some whoppers before BurgerKing closed.:D
It was still so much to do, that I forgot to snap some pix of how the work looks finished, I'll promise to catch up on this!
By the way, we finished that milestone at 7.15am. Good thing is that I live only one minute away from the working place. So I had enough time to get a shower and dress for the office where I fought the tiredness starting 8am over the entire day.
But it was worthwhile.:D
EDIT:
As promised, some pix of the result:
Painted the audison-covers since they came in transparent light blue polycarbonate.
nearly OEM-look
The 4-channel Genesis amp
Seat moved to the front position
That's all you can see... not much.
Again, the headunit:
Although the radio lid is closed 99% of the time, it's important for me how it looks with the door open.
to be continued!
-------------------------------------- Step 5 - Tweeters are ready --------------------------------------
I decided to take some pix with the EOS:
I love these pods!
Can't get enough of them:
With doors closed, only the tweeters themselves are visible.
Pretty unobtrusive, isn't it.
Although there isn't any amp atm, the sound is very nice already. Awesome low- and brilliant high range. Unbelievable, what a difference a proper install of only a system on an Alpine HU makes over the oem setup.
-------------------------------------- Step 4 - Speakers --------------------------------------
Speaker adapters made of multiplex - oem "speaker " in the background...
mounted
the new woofer --> absolutely invisible...
back to the tweeter pods:
What time is it? Hmm, 4am in the morning, let's go to BurgerKing to discuss the next days agenda... lol
-------------------------------------- Step 3 - Power Supply --------------------------------------
This week we dealt with what is often neglected: Power Supply
After hours and hours of comparing this and that, the components were chosen and ordered right away. Our choice fell on parts of Connection Audison. To keep the clean OEM-look even under the hood, we'll install these:
Connection Audison battery terminal +
1x 53mm² 1 x 35mm² 2 x 10mm²
No need for a seperate fuseholder laying around in the engine bay - it's integrated in the terminal. Furthermore the covers are made of polycarbonate which makes it very easy to paint them flat black.
Connection Audison battery terminal -
Connection Audison Fuse Distribution (will be installed invisibly under the dashboard)
To complete the setup, a KHC 1400 Batterie will be added on top later on. This will replace the OEM-Battery (36Ah)
Most powerful cells for Honda/Mitsubish OE replacement.
- 60 Ah
- Max. 1500 Ampere
- Maße 23m x 13,5cm x 20,6cm
Of course, the battery will be painted flat black as well.
-------------------------------------- Step 2: Custom Tweeter-pods --------------------------------------
Fixing the housings
Grinding the "tooth"
Testing frequently & Fine sanding
working place
first paint after endless smoothing
came out nice, so we test fitted the tweeters
-------------------------------------- Step 1: Silencing --------------------------------------
Again my claims:
- invisible install
- not more than 50 kilos extra-weight
- no space loss in the trunk
stage I and... --> couple of hours later
-------------------------------------- Step 0: What I've added so far --------------------------------------
Alpine 9887R
Illumination can be chosen from red/amber, blue, green.
Nice display
ipod-playlist scrollable in 3 lines
Digital Sound Processor
IMPRINT Technology
even the steering remote adapter plugs in
All in all, the perfect Headunit for the S2k.
