This has been my newest find. This is an 8.5" rear end out of a 2001 2wd 5 speed truck.

S-series have less than strong rear ends. Most are 7.5" 26 spline axles, or the 7 5/8", which is still just a 7.5" ring gear. But, a 28 spline axle.

Few trucks came with the 8.5". They are a 30 spline axle, and are the strongest bolt in rear end available for a s-series.

Most were 3.08 gears and a factory locker. Mine turned out just to be open.

New Eaton posi for it, and a set of 3.90 gears.

And, new traction bars. Caltracs from Calvert Racing.

More carnage from the wrath of the V8. Sheered the rear end carrier right in half!! You can see the big gaps between the 2 peices, and the bottom of it where it got chewed up by the pinion gear. Never seen this happen before. This was from a roll, with my 18"s too. Glad I didn't go racing last night and try to launch it with my drag radials.
