This is my first ride, the '87 Mitsubishi Montero. I owned it since '98 as a daily driver and wheelin' rig. After about 10 years of use, upkeep, and memories, it's still goin' stong! The Montero is always my work in progress, so enjoy my Monty page and please post any comments or suggestions if any. Thanks!
Update: Old motor is out. Just got a '91 Jimmy for parts and plan on doing the swap when I get the chance. Wish me luck!
...No, I did not 'cash for clunker it'! \(>.<)/
I'm still roaming the local junk yards for some additional tranny and transfer case parts. I'm trying to figure out how to integrate the digital speedo readout into my ancient mechanical speedo. Any suggestions? I've read about others doing this, but vaguely stated how it's done. (9/7/09)
I'll post pix of my '91 parts Jimmy when I get the chance.

My Monty tearin' it up!:

Getting steamy after messing around in the dip!

Takin a break!

Nice day to go camping!
Suited up for snowboarding!
Why do I like it. Other than the experiences I have had with it, I like its small boxy shape and its rarity. It gets a lot of attention from local wheelers, other Monty/Raider owners, and an occasional thumbs up from other random people. (^u^)b When I went to Japan, the SUV of choice was the Montero/ Pajaro. Sometimes I wish Japan imported some more short wheel based models in the United States (the late '90 Pajaro Evo is nice).
Above: My friend took this picture of the Pajaro Evo in Japan for me. Why don't we have those here?
Above: Here is the Pajaro Mini I found while visiting Japan.
I like Wranglers, but I don't like how I see them every few minutes on the road (sorry Wrangler guys). Trust me, there are a lot of them here in Seattle. Anyway, I later got a Suzuki Samurai from my bro 'cause he ended up getting a Suzuki X90. I thought it would be a nice "sidekick" to my Montero (gets better mpg too). I also like how the Samurai and Montero look similar to each other. When I feel like leaving the comforts of my Monty, the Samurai is a blast riding around with the top and doors off! \(>.<)/
