*SCROLL DOWN FOR PICS OF MY NEW SOUND SYSTEM
I had always wanted to get a first car which would turn heads, and was going to be something like an enhanced EF-AU straight 6 or V8 Fairmont or Falcon (typical Australian dream car....), however, Dad suggested that I get something more economical to turn heads, which he suggested a Celica as he'd owned a couple back in the day- 1977 Mustang Celica, and a 1981 18-RC Celica, which lead to the purchase of this machine. I bought it modified from Brenton (Fours n More) in Adelaide, and I do not regret my decision!!
It was originally a standard 18RC 2.0L Celica, but it now has a rebuilt 5 spd 18RG 2.0 Litre Twin Cam GT Motor. Upgrades include extractors, twin 4" Webbers, upgraded valves and springs, blue powdercoated rocker cover, new exhaust with a 2.5" dumped muffler and even factory air con ;) Anyhow, the rebuild has made the world of difference!! She is much more responsive on the foot, and loves the high revs making some surprising performance results...does 140 km/h in 3rd with ease!! with a slightly worn second gear, I have also converted to Redline gearbox oil, which has helped to smoothen it out again, whilst making some very sleek shifts ;)
The interior has been slightly touched aswell, with RA60 Celica bucket seats, sports leather steering wheel, new dash, and a TVC Head Unit wired to a powerful sound system which requires a battery upgrade from the current lawn-mower battery...
The body is in immaculate original condition, very straight (never been in a crash), and no signs of rust (except for a minor spot on the firewall). It has also been lowered a bit, and is running on 14" Dragway rims.
Previously being a city car, it has quickly gotten used to country roads and highways!! I'd confidently recommend to anyone who wants something economical, fun, different and head turning to get an old skool celica!
Thanks for checking out my Celica!! I hope this has given you some ideas or at least you enjoyed looking at it!! Make sure you leave a comment and drop me some opinions and suggestions!!!
