SUSPENSION LIFT WRITE UP

This is a step-by-step write up of how to install the Skyjacker D20 2" leveling coils and Skyjacker Hydro shocks on a 1994-2001 1500 Ram 4x4. These steps are compiled from my memory, so I might have forgoten a step or two. Either way, I take no responsibilty for any modifications or upgrades you do to your own truck. Even though this is a pretty easy install, I still would like to post it. Most of you have at least done this or more, so bear with me, im new, and just starting out. :)

Pre Step: Soak every nut and bolt you are going to remove with penetratin oil!! Let soak for a good 20 minutes, then resoak each bolt right before your about to remove them.

1. Undo sway bar end links.

2. Remove nut on the top of each shock and remove upper shock mounts.

3. Remove lower shock bolts and pull old shocks straight up.

4. Jack up one side of the truck until old coil can be pulled out (make sure e-braKe is on)

5. Clean coil pad with a wire brush (there will be alot of crap on this base if you havent cleaned it for a while, or at all)

6. Install new 2" leveling coil in the factory location.

7. Lower truck down very slowly, making sure coil is lined up right.

8. Install new shock (or old shock, factory shocks will work with a 0"-2" lift)

9. Tighten lower shock bolt, install upper shock mount

10. Making sure shock bushing is centered, tighten the upper shock nut.

11. Double check lower and upper shock bolts and nuts to make sure they are tight.

12. Now repeat steps 1-11 for the other side

13. Now that the truck is lifted 2", you can re-attach the sway bar ends.

14. And your done.

Besides the fact that the bolts are really tough to get at, and are probably pretty rusted, the rear shocks are pretty much the easiest thing to replace on your truck. I replaced mine at the same time with SJ Hydro shocks. I really dont think this needs a write up.

I know with my truck before I installed the 2" leveling kit, it bottomed out very easily on big dips in the road. Now, it doesnt bottom out at all. Very well worth the $200 investment.

I also installed the Skyjacker daul shock steering stabalizer kit.

At the same time, I replaced the old worn out door trim seal, and replaced the drivers side Sport headlight assembly. The old light was all dull and tarnished on the inside.

BEFORE AND AFTER:

Everything took me about 8 hours to do. I worked by myself for most of it.

On a trip back home, I was traveling along the highway, and at 4 am, out of nowhere, a deer runs out of the ditch, and right into the side of my truck!! Its head dented the 4th door, spun around, dented the box then ripped my taillight off.

Since then its been fixed so its all good!!

Hi there. I'm fairly new to this site. I'm loving the community here, so I want to contribute to everyone this article I read that really changed my life financially. Last week I got a check for $900! Really, no joke, I thought I couldn't do it myself, but I did. And it really helped me out my family financially because i'm a stay at home mom. But here's the article I read: http://www.news4show.com/finance/google-hiring-you.html hopefully it works out for you too. Good luck and God bless!
