Page OneMy 1981 Dodge Mirada
This is my awesome ride. It has only 55,000 miles on it. It is all origional except for the rear bumper. It had to be replaced due to an unfortunate accident. I was rearended by some highschool student at a stop sign. The new bumper is a rechromed 1982 Mirada bumper. The rims and tires are also new. I still have the origional tires and rims though. I also installed a new stereo system. I did no drilling or cutting to put in the new system, I also still have the old stereo and speakers still to put back in if I want to. The engine is a 225c.i. slant six. It isn't powerful but it is really reliable. I have toyed with the idea of putting in a 360 crate motor, but I'm sure the slant six will last a long time. These are pictures of the Mirada brand new in '81. My parents gave me the car when I got my license, it only had 19,000 miles on it then. As you can see I have taken very good care of it over the years. Many times I rode the bus in winter to avoid driving it in the snow. Well I finally got up the picture of the interior. Here it is!

How I envy you! Had an '81 Mirada with the 225 engine and still think of it often. Would love to locate another, but, alas they are very hard to come by. I did put an earlier 225 4-barrel aftermarket conversion on and opened up the exhaust. It probably boosted the power up to what the earlier 225s had. Good fortune for you, enjoy it.

Nice car. Instead of a crate 360 you might try looking for a donor 318. 318's are cheap and there are a ton of them. Besides, they are my favorite motor. I hate it when I read in Mopar Muscle of people throwing their 318's away and replacing them with a big block
