This is my 2000 Mazda Miata LS in Emerald Mica.
I use my car as a daily driver. But I love to autocross, I drift a little, car shows, and just love driving all together. Thats why I have a Miata. Some people knock it as being a "womens" car. Well im not saying it has 500hp but it one of those most fun cars you will ever drive right off the showroom floor. Your right arm naturally falls onto the center console and into the grip of the factory short throw shifter. Your left arm rests perfectly on the door sill. The pedals are perfectly placed. The gas pedal has a long throw to it to give you more feel. The factory exhause has a sporty note. There is also no tilt because they already have the perfect driving position already picked out for you. Not to mention the little 1.8l motor revs quickly and maxes out at 7k. the car with no passengers weighs about 2300lb and rails through corners with no upgrades and cheap tires. Try driving one sometime and you will see why Mazda has sold over 500,000 of these worldwide.
The LS package from the factory includes:
-Kashmere Top, Interior, and Leather seats
-Fog Lights
-Bilstein Suspension
-Limited Slip diff
What I have done:
-Corbeau Racing seat
-Corbeau 5-point harness
-LED tachometer(made for sport bikes but works perfectly with the miata)
-Hard Dog M2 roll bar
-I/O port camera Mount
-Powercard NA fuel tuning
-Pushbutton ignition (replaces hazard button perfectly in the center of the dash)
-FM Sway Bars
-Tokico HP struts
-Tokico springs
-Magnecor wires
-HKS 3-layer intake
-Shortened the intake plumbing (cooler air and radical throttle response change)
-Grounding wire kit
-Borla Cat back exhaust (highly recommend)
-Alpine deck and IPod cable
-PIAA bulbs
-Cheap aftermarket driving lights
These pictures we took at the edge of a lake In Issaquah. The first upgrade I did to the car was to add the FM swaybars. It was one of the best upgrades per dollar you can do. The sway bars are adjustable and really tightened up and balanced out the handling of the car.
My friends 88' Porsche 944t was also there, you will see his car in here aswell. After the sway bars I added the Hard Dog roll bar. Even if you dont like racing this helped out a TON just because of stiffness.
Stock height is about 1.5" higher. After the roll bar I added a racing seat from Corbeau, a 5point harness and a harness bar. This stiffened the car even more, and made it much much better at auto crosses. Originally I had to grab onto the center console to hang on. Now I an concentrate on what I'm doing.
You can see the cheap driving lights in this one. I then began doing the bolt on performance upgrades. HKS intake and Borla Axle back. Both worked perfectly together and really opened up the car. It revs much faster now and sounds perfect. The Borla isn't too loud and doesnt sound ricey. But you can def. tell there is something going on. I also cut and shortened the intake piping which made my throttle response quite a bit better and it seemed to rev faster. Plus it dragged the intake away from the headers.
