This is my 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door Hardtop. In 2004 my great uncle passed away, leaving the car to me. It had been sitting in a garage in Abtos for about 20 years, completely untouched. We carted it down, and unfortunately it just sat in our driveway for 3 years. I was only 14 at the time, and nobody in my family knew anything about cars. Over the course of those three years, I gradually taught myself about the car, and on Monday March 4th 2007, it coughed to life for the first time in 23 years. The next day it went for its first drive, and it runs beautifully. There are some minor issues here and there, but all in all it is a wonderful car, and I can't wait to work on it some more.

So far, the only things I have done to it are:
* New plugs, and wires are waiting to be installed
* oil change
* gas tank and radiator boiled and repainted
* broken both doors (not sure how or why, but now I have to get in through the trunk)
* re-built brakes
* installed new fuel pump
* new hoses
* new sending unit, added an extra fuel filter closer to motor
* converted flare end fuel line to rubber tube (my dad stripped the fitting when he tried to screw it on, and I can't afford another new sending unit)

I also have a new distributer that I need to install when I have the time.

The motor in the car is not original. It is a 283 c.i. V8, but the original 265 was sitting next to the car when we got it, and is now waiting to be re-built. I haven't decided which motor I would rather keep in the car, but I will probably go with the 265 because every single other part on the car is 100% original.

All of these pictures were taken when we first got the car. This last picture was taken the first time the car was driven in 23 years. Take a look at the shape of the shadow. Kinda cool!

I'll keep the work I do on it posted, so come back and check it out sometime in the future.
