Why should Vader be selected to be at the GRM UTC Challenge? Beacuse it has history...my story is simple...it all started back in 1994, when Goldeneye was being filmed in my little island of Puerto Rico (specifically in the town of Arecibo and Dorado) this latter town is on the coast; where the BMW Z3 was first seen by anyone in this side of the world. I was there. As a simple Production Assistant. I am today a Director Of Photography in the New England area.
That one day started around 4AM. Woke up, and the usual. Cold shower, walk from hotel to set, coffee, 56 degrees, and the buddies. All of us were talking about this BMW that would show up that day. It was the ultimate car. A 2 person convertible. We could not wait. Even Mr. Brosnan had not seen it yet.
Long story short, the truck arrives (enclosed carrier of course). Slowly the back doors open and we hear this roar form the inside of the carrier. All of us were drooling at this butt coming out of the truck. Wow. Silver and gorgeous!
I turned around and looked at the rest of the crew standing there and said "One day. i'll own one of those" They all laughed...
We went on to shoot the scene where 007's buddy flies down buzzing on top of the Z3...
Two years later i moved to Seattle while shooting the movie Assasins. On 1997, i purchased my first 1.9 BMW Z3. Dark green, black interior, and wow, the freaking radio turns the volume up and down by itself depending on the speed! I was like a little kid.
Today is March 1st 2007. I've had a 1.9, a 1998 2.8 and now a 1998 M Roadster. So i guess you can say i love them. I've autocross them-winning my class and also track schools. This last year i got "Most Improved Driver of the year" as well as second place in class AS for autox by a 10th of a second. This in only 3 years. Many hours have been spent getting the M Roadster to be as fine tuned as it is now. I am very proud of this car and it simply kicks butt! Come on...seriuosly...where? VIR, NHIS, Watkins, MT Tremblant? Come...onnnn!
**Thanks to all of you that have helped me get to were i am and for calling me crazy for not owning a damn M3 by now!
Long live the Z; and remember to Join the Dark Side...
cheers
M
