Oldskool442's 1990 Ford Mustang

Well she's FINALLY on the road, and only a year later than planned!  But it's all good, cause projects are really worth the time/money/blood/sweat/tears when they come out better than expected.  I recently got this one on the road (late August '08) and she's been a blast to drive.

Here's a few pics from her first show, at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford CT (September 14th 2008).  Dont't worry, I promise some updated engine pics soon.

Although it doesn't seem like it at first, simple was the theme of this car (comparing to my '65 Olds 442 anyway).  I picked the car up as a bare chassis, and put it together with relatively mild parts.

The SN95 5-lug swap was yanked from a junkyard '94 V6 stang, initially with stock 4 wheel discs.  Polyurethane bushings all over, a strut tower brace, aftermarket rear control arms, solid steering link, and subframe connectors keeps the car nice and tight.  Then I picked up the 18"x8.5" BBS RKs and wrapped them up in BF Goodrich KDs (245/40 in front and 265/40 in back).  It was then that I realized the little brakes looked horrible, so they were put on the shelf in favor of 13" front and 11.65" rear Cobra brakes.  But with the future plans of hitting the open track,  these brakes will do a lot more than just look pretty.

The engine is pretty mild too, with the biggest upgrade being the Vortech S-trim blower with a Maxflow blow-off valve and custom 4" inlet and 3" discharge plumbing (to clear the strut tower brace).  The entire longblock is completely stock, save for a freshening while the car was apart (oil pump, water pump, gaskets @ 140K miles).  The fuel system was replaced with 1/2" supply and 3/8" return lines, 42 lb injectors,  BBK pressure regulator, and a 190 lph pump.  Engine management is taken care of by a F.A.S.T. b2b fuel injection with MSD crank trigger.  The stock T-5 5 speed and 3.73s in the stock 8.8 rear finish up the drivetrain (for now, anyway).

I was lucky enough to score a '93 LX 4-cyl stang for really cheap that donated it's perfect black interior.  Some minor mods had to be done to the perfect interior to accomodate the chromoly steel roll bar, which was in the car when I bought it (future plans include making it into a complete cage).  The stock front seats were replaced with Summit Racing buckets with RJS camlock 5-way harnesses.  To save a little weight, the back seat, sound deadening, air conditioning, cruise control, spare tire taken out.  Dual Optima 6 volt batteries were installed where the backseat was (kind of on top of where the mufflers are), allowing me to keep a clean trunk area and a spare tire well incase I take it on a long trip.

Thanks for the complliments guys, it's nice to hear the feedback when so much effort was put into the car.  Feel free to email me at oldskool442@yahoo.com if you have any questions about the beast.

Oh yeah, be sure to check out my twin-supercharged '65 Olds 442 and my daily driven '01 Cobra also in my garage.

Here's a few random pics of the buildup, in no particular order.
