1988 Chevy Van, 305 V8, Automatic.
The engine is out of a taxi, I think a 1991 Caprice, it was coverted to propane for the taxi, then back to gas for my van.
The taxi companies get their cars from the police department, so I assume it was in a police car before that.
I found the van just sitting at a repair shop without an engine or tranny. Got the van for $500 and then brought the mechanic the engine and tranny to install.
I have had it standing for 24 hours in minus 40 degree freezing cold and it started no problem without the engine block heater pluged in. Yeah sure, the 'Check Engine' comes on everyday after it warms up, but it just keeps going.
The stuff I have moved with this van is unbelievable. Everything from furniture, full loads of bush branches, some loose gravel on tarps, stripped shingles off my roof, a motorcycle, washers, dryers, freezers, fridges, lumber, hot dog carts (it fits 2), 1 1/2 ton of books in boxes and other cargo for a courier company from floor to ceiling, front to back..over 2 tons at a time! It's a half ton by the way. :)
I've had a few vans:
1984 Ford Econoline window van
1983 Ford Econoline cargo van
1986 Chevy Cargo van
1986 Chevy cargo van (another)
1989 Chevy cargo van 3/4 ton
1988 Chevy van Cargo 1/2 ton (present)
I also have a 1986 GMC Safari cargo van and a 1967 Ford Econoline hippie van and a 1989 Dodge Caravan
